I find it interesting that UTA is willing to take money from these two cities who have a combined population of 40,000 people, but won't provide any service--not even one bus. What kind of agency is UTA anyway? I didn't know they had the ability to pick and choose which cities along the Wasatch Front they will service, yet are willing to take money from them all the same. I think they should be pressed further on their rationale.

There we go again with another Utah County area looking for something quickly at the hands of others who have paid for years for the services. You don't just get to decide 'hey we need that now, give it to us tomorrow' at the mercy of the system as a whole.

Truth of the matter you are going to get commuter rail far quicker than the residents North of Salt Lake got on their investment when they voted a transit tax increase in 2000.

I am sure the critics of UTA will be quick to jump all over this but they will be talking out of both sides of the mouth as usual.

You built your house out where there was little to no infrastructure (your roads are a perfect testament to this), didn't invest in the future and lived off of the dream that energy would remain cheap forever. Have fun.

Another typical response from a greedy Salt Lake County resident. Answer this question then. How is that Herriman has UTA service even though it incorporated after Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain? The fact still remains that UTA offered to take money from Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs without giving a timeline for possible service. The old adage that funding stops at the Salt Lake and Utah County border is quite true and it now involves UTA in addition to UDOT. How long must Utah County subsidize Salt Lake County?

Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs are NOT part of the UTA transit district yet but have had the opportunity to join for years now. Just because they want it now doesn't mean it's that easy. A little foresight and good planning goes a long way. These city leaders have fallen way short! You can't blame UTA for that.
