Both and online and print didn't list the Men's Clydesdale division. Where's the love for us bigger guys?

They try real hard...yet they are slow.

Not all of us are that slow. I still did the dang thing in under an hour!

Another thing I want to see is my chip time. It would be nice if Stride Racing would at least put this on their website as it takes several minutes to get everyone across the starting line. Otherwise it kind of defeats the purpose of having a chip.
I agree with also | 8:55 p.m. July 25, 2008
I thought my time started when i crossed the line. Whats the deal? My roommate ran it in 37:10, but his time here is 40min cause we got there kinda late so he stretched a little and went through towards the end of the pack. Why the chip reader deal at the start if you don't even use that time???

I was also disappointed that the chip times were not published. Maybe next year they should consider a company like ChampionChip that does a much better job of publishing results. I can't understand why they would require chips and then not use a chip start.

I liked the race. Two suggestions for improvement. Publish chip times and set up the water stations earlier. When I reached the first water station, the volunteers were not ready with water.

Bob Woods does a great job with these races. These races were destined to die, until he became the director. Double his pay and double his budget. These races can be the best in the US with his leadership.

It's a moot point, gun time has been how the DN has done their placing in recent past. On their results web site, they indicated that they may or may not be able to retrieve chip times due to problems at the starting mat. When I've questioned race directors in the past as to why they place by gun time, they have stated that the company they use or the governing body for road racing requires it. Question: How do other races like St. George and Boston do it by chip time? When I've asked the purpose for the chip, they have said it is to know your actual time. (Like most runners don't have a chronograph?) The problem with gun time is this: all competive age division runners will now crowd the start, where they possibly don't belong, due to the lost time being too far back in the pack. The ONLY way to keep those runners in a location relative to their anticipated running pace is to use chip time for final placing in the age divisions. Do what you want for the elite. Their gun times and chip times will be nearly identical in most cases anyway.

Re: clock vs. chip times. Please come over and work with the race staff of Bolder Boulder- 50,000 accurately chip-timed runners in >35 waves prove it can be done! That being said, we have hundreds of multi-year race vets who work vs. run. DN is a great race- I've run it on my 30th, 40th, and now 50th birthday- just coincidentally July 24th!
