The last estimate of cost of the project was made in 2005 and was 656 million dollars. In just three years the cost has doubled. This is construction cost only and does not include the debt service. This increases the total cost to nearly three billion dollars , about what the Central Utah Project cost, all of which has to be paid by the citizens of Washington, Kane and Iron counties, without federal or state aid. The cost is prohibitive. Conservation and careful use of existing water can accomplish the same end without the crushing debt. The State needs to reevaluate this project.

Considering how tightly regulated the water shares of the Colorado River are between the states, has Utah really agreed to give this much of their share to St. George and Cedar City? I haven't really read too much about this pipeline, but I do know (having lived in Utah, Colorado and Arizona) that the water isn't just there for the taking.
