Once again the press twists the facts for some strange reason. What happened to objective journalism? The extreme slant in this acticle makes it sound as if Bush never wants our troops to come home. Yeah, right. If the general public believes that I think a lot of money can be made in scams and deception. Why can't this reporter just talk about the negotiations that are going on between the U.S. and Iraq and leave the gossip and ebelishments to the tabloids?
sad, pathetic joke | 12:14 p.m. July 18, 2008
A time frame for troop cuts.
Now isn't that hilarious?
The majority of the country has been demanding that for a long time this very same thing and each time the neocon Cheney/Bush Adminstration has been screaming the usual: "If you're not for us - you're a traitor!"
What a sad, pathetic joke. And sadder still the neocons who support this twisted philosophy.
But I understand Dick and Lynn Cheney's Halliburton and Lockheed Martin has made a lot of people filthy rich.
an honest people | 12:35 p.m. July 18, 2008
Wasn't that long ago that the mere mention of a time frame for troop reduction was met with:
"The enemy will just go into hiding and count the days."

Now watch some looney neocon say, "Nobody ever said that" (the truly honest people they are).

It looks like the Bush administration is following Obama’s lead. Go figure?

Bush; before Obama – We will never talk to Iran!

Obama – We should have direct talks to Iran.

Bush; before Obama – We will not have a time withdraw from Iraq!

Obama – We need to get out of Iraq within 16 months of my administration.

Now Bush is talking directly with Iran, and today Bush agrees for an US withdraw of American troops after UN mandate ends in December. Guess what oil prices came down!

Wow! Obama is not even president yet and is directing foreign policy.

Now that’s change you can believe in.

Obama 08/12

They want us out of THEIR country, we get out. Nobody likes the guest who over stays his welcome.

Further, The Phantom President stricks again. McBush follows what Barack says again with regard to foreign policy; air attack against Pakistani (Baracks idea), sending more troops to Afghanistan (Baracks idea), using strong diplomacy with Iran with regard to nuclear weapons (Baracks idea), time table for Iraq (Baracks idea).

Wow, who knew one politician that's not even President yet could bring about so much change. Speaking of change, I'm seeing it every other day or so from McBush.
negotiate | 1:11 p.m. July 18, 2008
I understand the desperation of an administration laden with oil buddies (Condoleeza Rice even has an oil tanker named after her) to do SOMETHING to get the oil - but the shock-and-aweing of women and children and a 9 trillion dollar debt that is bankrupting our fine country is NOT the way to do it.
Negotiate.
Negotiate.
Negotiate.
Before it's too late.
Hmm. | 1:13 p.m. July 18, 2008
-Iraqi combatant dead (invasion period): 7,600-10,800

-Insurgents dead (post-Saddam): 17,731-23,560

-Iraqi Security Forces (post-Saddam, Coalition allies) Police/military killed: 10,823

-Coalition dead (4,121 US[19], 176 UK, 137 other): 4,434

-Coalition wounded:30,409

-Contractors dead (US 244): 1,186

-All Iraqi violent deaths, Opinion Research Business. As of August 2007: 1,033,000 (946,000-1,120,000). Causes; gunshots (48%), car bombs (20%), aerial bombing (9%), accidents (6%), another blast/ordnance (6%).

-Oh and don't forget to mention that cost us 3 trillion dollars. What a waste of human life. If we would've spent that money here at home investing in alternative energy things in this country would be 1000 times better. I'm moving to New Zealand, haha ...the U.S. is going out of business.

Under the conservative mess that is Cheney/Bush -
America as we know it might never again be the same.

People I know who have come back from Iraq (including my youngest son) have told me that the attitude of the administration has been that they are never going to leave. They are setting up bases that are not temporary by any stretch of the imagination.

How can we point with pride to a democratically elected government that we set up and then ignore their right to tell us to remove our troops?
don't blame me | 2:14 p.m. July 18, 2008
"It makes no sense to tell the enemy when you plan to start withdrawing. All the terrorists would have to do is mark their calendars. ... Setting a deadline for withdrawal is setting a date for failure, and that would be irresponsible." - George W. Bush May, 2007

Don't blame ME. I didn't vote for him.
The liberals tried to warn you but you support him anyway.

Bush and the GOP flip flop again.....just in time for the election.

It increasingly appears that the U.S. is winning the war in Iraq. So this is good news. Nobody in their right mind would want to leave Iraq in the midst of a civil war, the victory of which could leave a terrorist regime in control. Too bad Saddam did not take Bush seriously, continuing his pretense of manufacturing WMD instead of complying totally with UN inspections. It appears now that Iraq will be in much better shape for whoever wins the Presidency of the U.S.

I still don't get the critics who continually argue that Bush got into this war for his oil buddies. That makes absolutely no sense unless you think Bush is so intelligent that he knows any potential threat to the world oil supply increases the price of oil and he entered the war in Iraw for that reason. I don't believe that and can not fathom any American President creating a war in Iraq simply for monetary reasons. It's obvious that Bush considered Iraq a threat, which it definitely was to its neighbors, having fired missiles at Saudi Arabia as well as Israel. I'm glad that Hitlerlike Saddam is gone.
never DID support this | 2:39 p.m. July 18, 2008
That awful Cheney/Bush administration lied to us about WMD's in Iraq and started this great country's first preemptive war. Thousands have lost their lives and we are now in debt that may never be recovered.
The reason for the whole terrible thing was oil.

Now that oil is bankrupting everything and everybody with runaway prices that may never stop, The President is considering getting out of Iraq.

Don't blame me. I never supported this mess from the very beginning.
very funny | 2:42 p.m. July 18, 2008
"I'm glad that Hitlerlike Saddam is gone" says Rich 2:28.
Funny.
He doesn't mention anything about Bin Ladin.

And don't ever expect a neocon to be honest with you re: not one 9/11 culprit was an Iraqi.

These are America's darkest days.

But November is just around the corner.

Thank God!
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 4:27 p.m. July 18, 2008
More tabloids trash, scams and liberal AP press deception, gossip around the water cooler, lies and twisted Dem philosophy, directing foreign policy, cut and run Dem's, in great desperation to hold onto their seats in Congress after Nov. 2008, that they know will be lost to the Great Republican's, and through our great President Bush the U.S. is winning the war in Iraq, shortest war in History, plus we are going to clean up the other mess in 3 other Countries near Iraq as well, and finish the great world war III, the war on terror, and you can thank the Cheney/Bush administration and our troops and Veteran's for that folks. About Obamaism now, with his 200 days in Office only and no leadership. Talking about the polluting environmental measures that affect us all, and cause that smoggy air that routinely cloaks the Capital and America, just where are those eccentric environmentalists, yelling about how much Obamaism's jet is using, wasteing, polluting our air, as well as other forms of transport he uses, plus how much fuel this wastes, that drive up gas prices at the pumps. I say "dump the Dem's".
To Brother Chuck Schroeder | 5:39 p.m. July 18, 2008
Wow was that meant as sarcasm or have you been listening to way too much AM radio?
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 6:15 p.m. July 18, 2008
It was meant as the truth - and that's something liberal's don't believe in. They cover up the truth with lies.

And I have not been a "DITTO-HEAD" for years, I am to busy working with other Republicans trying to make America better for all, while the Dem's try to screw that up than point the finger of blame at someone else. (such as most all posts in here are doing).
Schooner Sailer | 10:22 p.m. July 18, 2008
It's time to remove the troops from Iraq. Too bad Mr. Bush got bad advice from the inner circle. Shame on the congress for not having the backbone to stop funding the war. Most politicians are in the business of politics, not the good of the country. What we have coming in the future will not make us safer. The real fight for them is how to control greenhouse gases that lead to global warming.

So I play the tunes by CCR - "I See a Bad Moon Rising."
