It kind of makes me nervous that it's taking this long to sign him to an extension, the Jazz management better not flub this one up. We need Williams to be successful. Boozer is expendable, but Derron is not.

Phase 1: Contact Posturing Complete
Phase 2: Claim the organization isn't "doing enough" to win and that the teams "vision" isn't clear. Then leave via free agency to somewhere like LA, NY, or CHI TOWN where the endorsemnt money flows like a river. Oh, and the league will give Deron some attention.
Phase 3: Tell the world that you couldn't get over your resentment of Coach Sloan and that you still "HATE HIM".
MISSION EXIT JAZZ WITH GRACE COMPLETE

Yeah RIGHT, how many times has something like that actually happened with the Jazz? I don't know why Jazz fans have such a negative attitude and are so pessimistic sometimes. Stockton stayed his entire career. Malone stayed virtually his entire career. Everything Deron's said indicates he's in it for the long haul. If Boozer ends up leaving, it's understandable considering he can't live with his own son during the season. The only players who have really done anything like you're talking about are expendable young players like DeShawn Stevenson or, to a certain extent, Kirilenko (even though it wasn't about the money with him. He just didn't like Sloan). You act like EVERY all star the Jazz get just can't wait to leave. In reality, the Jazz do a better job at keeping their best players than almost any other team.

Sorry I didn't mean to make it look like Kirilenko is expendable. What I meant to say was the only players just wanting to get out of Utah are a handful of young expendable players and Kirilenko.

re: reah right-phase 3
All except for the part where Deron has said that he now likes Sloan and that is one of the reasons he wants to be here because he figured out all Sloan cares about is trying to win.
If you read between the lines though, Deron has basically said he is not signing the max deal. He want to "see where the team is headed in a few years and make sure the team has a plan for winning". Translation: 3-4 years.
I have no problem with that--it will force LHM and KOC to get talent or face the prospect of having D-Will walk away which this franchise can not allow if they want to win.
That said, both parties agree that contract discussions are progressing every day. What's the debate really? I mean LHM has already publicly said he will give Deron whatever a max deal/money/years..this leads me to believe they are working out a shorter deal with option years.

Lang was a very good Flash player. I went to a handful of D league games. Fez doesn't look anywhere near ready for the Jazz. He puts the ball on the floor way too much. Almond can shoot the lights out of the ball unless he has a good defender on him. Then he sucks getting his shot off. his defense is terrible, and he lacks size and weight.

1. What will boozer do, and what extent will you go to for a replacement?
2. Who will coach the Jazz after sloan? How much longer will he stay?
3. Larry H's health? What becomes of the Jazz if Miller takes a turn for the worse. Is the new owner commited to excelence or will he pull a Seatle and bail
In my oppinion these are all legitimate questions that need to be identified ASAP! I don't blame him. Get him a 3yr deal with the 4th year option and answer the questions.

please stop crying dwill is going to take the 90 million. There is not an agent alive that would let his client turn down 90 mil and turn it down with bejing around the corner no one is that dumb. Jazz can offer more money, longer deal, and i love the pathetic argument dwill gonna dash for endorsment money. that might be the case for lebron or kobe but to think dwill would not get a major endorsment deal if he in utah is crazy.

RE: Moto X
You and anyone else who believe there is any real "Negotiations" still going on is/are a fool. The pay is structured. There's no math, only guidlines that are already set. He's just making it look good so he can claim to have a free concience when he leaves. He wants respect. Don't you get it. He got dissed by Texas, so he went to Illinois. Now he's getting dissed by the National Media. Hardly any coverage. Takes his team deeper in the playoffs than Paul, owns him head to head, but the Media only wants to cover Paul. He's David Stearns chosen one. Destined to resurect the NBA in N.O. after Katrina. All Deron can do in SLC is fill the shoes of maybe the greatest PG ever, but one who didn't win it all and never gets love from anyone because he's unassuming. Deron can only get the love in a big market. But he's too much of a snake to tell it like it is. Instead he wants to blame the Jazz for not siging Boozer. He's gone, baby. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt. WAKE UP Jazz fans.

You ye pessimits, take courage and stop the negativity! D-Will is a Jazz Man and will remain one for a very long time. The deal will get done. All the doom and gloom from some of you is too much to handle. Try being upbeat. Even if the Jazz never win the NBA title they have been one of the better teams in the league over the years. We can be proud of that. I am optomistic that a deal is shortly to be announced and that the Jazz will again play for the NBA Championship.
wasted money... | 2:16 p.m. July 15, 2008
..too bad we can use this money for actual good around the state. (ie, roads, schools, the future of our economy.)
wasted money? | 3:54 p.m. July 15, 2008
It isn't your money (or mine) in the first place. You don't have to pay the price of a ticket, buy a jersey, watch on TV......
The entertainment dollar bears it and Larry Miller and company believe he is worth the investment for their investment, the franchise.
Stop looking at somebody else's wallet.

Not cp3. Leave some money on the table for Larry and Kevin to build a team.

It's pretty obvious waht going on.
Deron wants a short contract but high paying, like two years, with player options.
So he can get out just as he is hitting his prime and go to a big market.
The jazz want to lock him up as long they can.
Jazz have been horribly bad giving high paying long term contracts to players.
They over value theri players much too often, like Ak or ostertag, or boozer.
Causing them to be stuck with big contracts and players you can't move.

Dwill is going to sign a 3year and with opt out option for 4th. Utah Jazz is a small market team and yes we don't get the exposure like most team, well not for the fouling stats though(lol) because during the playoff Doug Collins said Jazz are known to foul then play defense. but in reality Dwill can get more exposure in LA,NY, but again if your good as they come regardless where your playing they will find you. So hope Dwill stay if not there more good players out there.and BTW don't compare John stockton to DWill about their winning ego, John wanted to win regardless if he on a bad Jazz team or not, Dwill will leave after 3years if jazz don't win? John wouldn't done that!
