Hey Kougs are you going to start going round saying "my bishop can beat up your bishop"?
Call KBYU TV and have them start reruns of glory days football. If this woman's mortgage indeed gets paid, it might have been worth all the hoopla.

Nice work Vai | 10:46 a.m. July 14, 2008
Yo, Ute fan...We don't need to watch reruns, the glory is back 2006, 2007 and will only get better, while the roller coaster Yewts continue to underperform.

Go to YouTube, type in "Vai," and you'll see that Sikahema treated Canseco like a certain Giants logo a couple of decades ago.

Way to go, Vai | 11:39 a.m. July 14, 2008
Awesome!!! Worth all the hype. A knockout in the first round by the underdog. The bigger they are the harder they fall, and Canseco fell hard. Jose was favored 3 to 1. When will people learn that big and slow doesn't translate into tougher and more athletic? Big dummies!

It is so great to see these guys that I watched eight rows back and on the 45 yard line play so well back in the day. I have heard Vai's name a few times, he has done well as a professional, as a church member and as a family member, bless him for his example. As for this silly feud between the Y and the U, face it, the Y is better :)

When it comes to boxing between a football player and a baseball player I'd take football most every time. As for most baseball players they stand around and stare at each other and have much less a need to stay in shape. Baseball is 99% non-contact. Jose, despite his size advantage and history of roids was clearly outside his league when facing Vai.
Favorite Vai momment: Returning a punt return for a TD vs SMU in the Holiday Bowl.

Stud vs. Dud | 3:04 p.m. July 14, 2008
Vai is a stud. Jose is a dud.
Dude should have known that a smaller, quicker athlete who was tough enough to return kicks in the NFL and who had 86 amateur boxing matches under his belt, would cream a slow-footed, slow-handed, over-weight baseball player.

Vai needs to get a life. So does Jose, for that matter. Didn't they put away enough from their pro salaries that they don't have to humiliate themselves with this kind of garbage. Geez, what a sad commentary!
booyah! | 4:59 p.m. July 14, 2008
Vai is the man. Jose in the lame.
former Philly | 5:17 p.m. July 14, 2008
I know Vai, and he is a total class act. Great story - amusing and fun. And Vai gave the money to charity. Great guy!
Re: Ute Alum | 5:38 p.m. July 14, 2008
Pretty lame comment, much like your ewe team. And Willard, the only one who got hurt in this was Jose. It was a charity affair, read the article. Maybe you have taken too many tackles without your helmet.
Willard...how's Ben? | 7:51 p.m. July 14, 2008
To Willard: The only sad commentary is yours.
Vai is a successful on-air sports commentator in Philadelphia. He gave all his winnings from the bout to the widow of a slain police officer. He sacrificed his time to train for the fight.
The only thing humiliating must be your reading comprehension skills.

Ha ha ha ha. That was great! I'm going to watch that video again...
So tell me | 9:06 p.m. July 14, 2008
what is Mr Sikahema doing these days, besides knocking out an overrated former baseball player?
He was a sports reporter in Philly for a news station.
I read a series of articles he wrote about his trip home to the islands.
I haven't heard anything else since then.

Now you've heard... | 10:55 p.m. July 14, 2008
Vai Sikahema, sports director/anchor for NBC 10 News at 4, 5, 6 and 11pm, joined WCAU in April 1994. Previously, he was the station’s sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. His accomplished career in the NFL, as well as his strong and solid background in television, made him an easy choice to be part of NBC 10’s sports department. Additionally, Sikahema is the weeknight sports director/anchor for myphl17 News at ten powered by NBC 10.
Sikahema is also the host of “Wednesday’s Child,” a segment sponsored by the National Adoption Center, Freddie Mac Foundation and NBC 10 to promote the adoption of children.
Known by many for his in-depth sports reports, Sikahema has also covered both the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, and the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, and the prestigious horse races that featured locally owned and favored to win Smarty Jones and Barbaro.

Am I the only guy in Utah to see a problem here. Photos from the bout may end up on a sports calender titled Sikahema, Bishop on a Mission. I mean, my goodness, he did have his shirt off didn't he?

I could take both of them at the same time. Blindfolded. With my arms behind my back. In a wheelchair. With the flu. In a coma. On my deathbed.

interesting that canseco gets 35K, vai gets 25K...was this for the money? kind of dumb. boxing is not really a sport at this level. amateur boxing is a sport where they wear head gear etc. but outside of the olympics boxing is just a gambling venue. but then again all professional sports are about gambling, just ask the NBA commissioner, Stern, and his referees.

ESPN had a video clip and while Canseco was wearing a fairly modest tank top, Vai was completely SHIRTLESS!!!?? He was wearing less clothing than any of the missionaries from that Calendar.
I wonder if there will be a court of love in Vai's future?

To Ed H | 3:36 p.m. July 17, 2008
Hey Ed, he's not the bishop...he's the 2nd counselor in the Cherry Hill, NJ stake presidency...even more reason to distance himself from such ludicrous behavior. And he didn't give the whole $25,000 towards the mortgage either, he only gave $5,000. I said it before and I'll say it again, as a member of his stake here in New Jersey I'd much rather have seen him conduct a telethon, just make a donation or otherwise solicit the simple $5,000 than associate himself with such ilk as Jose Canseco and the pathetic sport of boxing. Extremely un Christlike behavior.
Go ahead...let me have it now all you fans...

Ok. Who elected you the judge of everyone in the Cherry Hills stake?
