I feel he should resign as a chief of police or be fired and lose his P O S T certification too.

Get over yourself. It's good he lost the training job but tell me that if you made a mistake and you lost your livelyhood and the many years you spent getting yourself ahead you wouldn't want some leniancy? You would hope that someone would overlook one indiscretion with a certain amount of understanding. I think he was an idiot for shooting himself and he should be penalized but you are selfish and overzealous.

question to steven if this SAFTEY INSTRUCTOR would have shot and killed someone in the class rather then himself in the foot would you feel the same??? Does the idiot still deserve leniancy??? is he still just some idiot. with the position he holds (police chief) he should know better and should loose his right to have a firearm.

It states he was waving the gun around the students. He is lucky he only shot himself. He should be charged with reckless endangerment. If it had been a citizen they would have been charged.
