I agree 100%. It is interesting that those most vocal on chemicals are those least qualified to do so. As a chemical engineer who worked in the chemical industry for more than 40 years, the bias of people towards the word chemical is astounding. Any company that tried to build an oil refinery would be thwarted at every step by no-nothings and other supposed do-gooders and require probably 40 years to get built. To those in the liberal eastern US, I say, restore the pristine beauty that was once Manhattan Island. And if think you can stop global warming, just go stand in front of a lava flow from an active volcano and say stop. Why hasn't man learned that he cannot control nature?
Man's contribution to global warming is miniscule and the amount and extent of that is well-documented. People believe what they want to, especially those in ignorance of the facts--and of course, the beliefs fostered by those politicians and educators even more ignorant of the actual facts and bolstered by their success. Brainwashing of school children on the environment should stop. The world would be a sad place without the chemical
industry.

Stephen, I couldn't agree with you more. I'm more worried about trucks filled with LPG than about the hazardous waste vehicles. The Downwinders and lawyers like Steve Erickson have created public paranoia about anything with the words, "chemical, nuclear, or radiation." That paranoia stopped construction of nuclear powere plants after a tiny, insignificant leak at Three-mile Island, supposedly for safety reasons. Yet the Navy has been using nuclear power in much more confined spaces for the last 50 years without significant safety problems. Now we are paying the price; we are being urged to restrict our use of power during hot days, no one wants coal power, dams, or nuclear. But the anti-progress radicals will never take credit for this short-sighted mess, they will keep opposing every action to keep us supplied with needed energy, and are just fine with keeping jobs out of Utah.
