It's nice to hear Iraq talking about standing on their own. A year ago they admitted they were not ready to take care of their own business. They are probably not quite ready, but getting a little confidence is a big step. It won't be soon enough. A Status of Forces Agreement can be beneficial to both sides. Whatever we do, let's make sure we don't commit a blank check as part of the agreement. Iraq needs to fund its own ops. I look forward to the day that our 150k troops drops to a meager 30k like in Korea.

Now that the Iraqis can make their own decisions, one of them could be to evict US. Doh!

We should pull our troops out of Korea as well... and Japan, and Germany, and wherever we have them where there is a reasonable degree of stability.

We've got troops in 130 countries now. Shall we start bringing them home alphabetically by country, or in some formula based on the reason that got us there in the first place? Anyway, let's do it while the Iraqis are asking and the country is full of mercenaries.

Let's make their wish a reality.
