Joined the LDS church months ago, then shot his wife several times??? Does the LDS church forgive it's members for murder?

Too bad this same scenario can't take place for more of the people who want to take the law into their own hands. At least mom and son won't have to be looking over their shoulder's all the time now.
Good Riddance.

Ho hum, another case of someone looking for a reason to bash the Church over the misdeeds of an individual. Have you ever found any church where every single person is flawless, no one ever sins or commits a crime, and every convert is truly converted and has no more desire to do evil? If so, please point me to it and I will apostatize, admit that I belong to a false church, and go join that church that will give me the assurance of perfection.
People are human. As long as we have the ability to make choices, many of us will do bad things. The gospel is not for perfect people, but to perfect people. And forgiveness is up to God.

The LDS church does not forgive any sins. Only God forgives sins. This only happens as a result of one showing faith in the atoning sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. This faith unto salvation is shown by one's deeds including baptism, repentance and obedience. The LDS Church takes murder very seriously. If Lonnie had lived and had actually committed murder he would almost certainly have been excommunicated.
On the other hand, if he had joined a Baptist, Evangelical or Calvinist church that teaches "Perseverance of the Saints" and if he had even momentarily met their requirements for being considered "saved" then they would claim that he is in heaven right now.
