I don't thing a child in the custody of a parent is cause to issue and amber alert. The police are using the system as means for their manhunt for the shooting. Some children don't want to be forced to live with mothers and who knows, maybe the boy didn't want be retrunded. Or maybe the father didn't like how the mother was endangering his son with her lifestyle. All speculative comments but something smells fishy about how the police are using the amber alert system as they have not mentioned whether the child is in danger, only that the police want this man for shooting the EX. Only one crime has been committed with improper use and abuse of the amber alert system.

Bob G beat me to it--this is using the alert system as a general law enforcement tool because the alleged perp has a kid. Since I don't care as much about playing policeman as I do about helping kids who are actually kidnapped, I will probably pay a little bit less attention to the next Amber Alert I see.

Really? The father tried to kill the boy's mother! The father is wanted for a terrible crime, why wouldn't law-inforcement use any means to catch him. The child is with a desperate, crazy man. I hope he (the child) is found unharmed.

Grandma, you are right on the money-That child IS in danger. I have close relatives that were in the same situation regarding custody. The mother was an evil, manipulative woman, but the relative certainly didn't think of killing her! He was too concerned for his children. This man needs to be caught-An Amber Alert is certainly correct

Please don't pass judgment before knowing the facts of the case. The AMBER ALERT is issued because the father has no legal right to have the child. He tried to shoot his ex-wife - he is obviously unstable. DO NOT IGNORE AMBER ALERTS!!! It is imperative that Ryan is found and returned to his mother and family here in Orange County. PLEASE STAY ON THE LOOKOUT!
