Please watch your little ones every second. When my kids were little, we never let them out of our sight when we were away from home and during most the time we were home when hazards were present. We would only ask people to tend our kids who were as obsessive as we were. In fact, we were ridiculed at times for our seemingly obsessive behavior. It is heartbreaking to read stories about toddlers falling into water hazards, young children being left in hot cars, and children being hit by cars. MAKE SURE YOUR KIDS ARE BEING WATCHED EVERY SECOND.

In big groups children wander around and people get lazy and assume someone is always looking out for their children. I have relatives like this and it drives me crazy. They figure since there are so many people around, that their child couldn't possibly wander off or choke on a rock, etc.. (babies put everything in their mouths)

I'm not religous but I prayed for the parent's last night and the grandparents. My baby will turn one in just a month and I can't imagine how horrific it would be to have something happen like that.

Watching kids like a HAWK is not obsessive and uptight. It may save your child's life!

I am so sorry to hear this sweet little child drowned. I would be devastated if I lost one of my babies.

These little ones can move so fast. My daughters in law are also a little obssesive about the kids. I'm glad. You can never be too careful with a child's life.

What a nightmare for this poor family.

(Reading all the headlines, was this a dangerous weekend in Utah or what?

Someone should make a law about this.

RE: Anonymous

And what should that law be? "1-year old children are not allowed to leave the sight of their parents and shall remain confined within a certain designated area at all times."

Good luck getting that one passed.

There are already laws for murder, abuse, & neglect, but unfortunately this seems to be a case of momentary distraction by the family. It only takes a second for a child to wander away. Sadly, this turned out to be a devastating experience for the family.
