Based on the Salt Lake PD Chief's comment, he has no business in law enforcement. Maybe he could become a social worker, he already has the bleeding heart for law breakers.

This training seems a waste of time, money, and effort in state law enforcement of illegal aliens in our country. With catch and releaase, and non enforcement of laws why are they bothering? This is just a smoke screen being employed on the american citizens that something is being done to deport and rid america of these illegals. They do not deport nor even prosecute the illegals for being illegally in america. This training only seems to tell law enforcement how to avoid interfering with illegals taking up harbour on our soil. America needs absolute enforcement regardless of excusses. This training should also give information to attack and force employers for blatantly employing illegals they know are illegals. When is the IRS going to start going after employers for tax evasion and falsifying employee records? Why are employers being given amnesty when it comes to tax evasion and falsifying reports? These training programs have done nothing to secure america and protect the american people from illegal foreign nationals hiding in their underground communities. It is a disgrace to america and the american people that illegals and their employers are not deported or subjected to the laws.

These guys are going to be busy in St.George. Washington County is over-run by illegals - they're everywhere.

Its about time! Now if sanctuary counties like Salt Lake, Utah, Weber, and Summit along with smaller counties like Sanpete would do something, Utah could cease being a sanctuary state. Oh, you didn't know that Utah is a sanctuary state. It is much a sanctuary state as California, Nevada, or New Mexico, where local police protect illegal aliens from ICE investigations.

Bob, you are right. Bush has only allowed for 22,000 detention beds. He knows darn well he needs at least 100,000.
Keep up the illusion of enforcement until congress passes amnesty. That is the game plan.
But I still think 287g is a good idea. It is only a matter of time before the paper trail of a released killer leads right back to Homeland Security (ICE). Enough of those cases and the feds will have to address the issue.
