Since the requirement for immigrants learn our language and laws were dropped it has created this problem as well as their efforts to assimilate in to the american society. Immigrants should be required to learn some english and writing english and our laws before they are granted citizenship. Immigrants used to have to take courses in the american way of life before being granted citizenship but now there is no requirements at all and they are just dumped here to fend for themselves. The illegals from mexico do not fit this status as immigrants so they are a completely independent country within a country.

I agree that "immigrants" especially those from communities which historically have the lowest rate of assimilation (MExicans according to the recent national studies) should be educated on how our LAWS work, how to respect our laws, how to be good neighbors, how to speak, read, write and use English, and respect the customs, laws, rules, tradiitions of the United States. Being a good citizen means learning AMERICAN history and making sure their children do as well.
