You know, I hate to say it, but after hearing what Herbert had to say, I think the Lt. Gov. comes away smelling like the rose in all of this. I thought he was wrong for delaying his decision before the election, but after hearing his explanation I think it was the right way to go about it.
If Walker wins the primary and then the general and then is found to have committed a crime we'll deal with it at that time. Herbert is absolutely right that opponents need to be protected from last minute gamesmanship, even if that's not what Ellis intended in this case (which I believe is the case.)

The Lt. Gov is "frustrated" because he knows more than we do about his investigation and it's not as black and white as some people think.

Hey Karl, it looks to me like the Lt. Gov was doing exactly that. He WAS doing his job. In fact, it's good to see someone in office that cares more about what "his job" is rather than his own political gain. He could have just as easily, as he said, dumped it in someone elses lap, or just caved to pressure after the negative articles, but guess what he did...HIS JOB!

I don't know why the investigation was so hard. The only proof there is is some emails. It doesn't take a King Solomon to figure out if it was a bribe or not. And if there was nothing in it, and no substantial evidence, that's all Herbert had to say in his investigation. Real hard. I could have had this whole mess figured out in a week myself. If nothing else, I think Herbert committed political suicide. He'd better start thinking about what real job he's going to get in the private sector in 4 years right now.

Let's see you have the support of the Gov., Lt. Gov., Attny General, and the speaker of the house. You almost get enough votes at the state convention to eliminate a primary. Then in the primary you are wiped out by your opponent. Why? Because the people see you are simply not qualified. Hum, why should we trust the Republican leadership in the state of Utah?
The treasure's result along with the result in the 3rd congressional district raises serious questions about the party's current leadership in Utah.
