Four cats and national news means another ten million in contributions. A typical day for the "Best Friends Money Machine".

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated" Mahatma Gandhi. Thank you Best Friends!

I sense some underlying issues with Best Friends coming from you. Why the bitterness?

I have been gladly making monthly contributions to Best Friends since January of this year and plan to keep doing so indefinately. If you know anything about them you'd know they're a great organization and well respected across the nation and even the globe.

What's wrong with them earning more money as the result of a press story? The more money they get the better as it's a very worthy cause. Many animals are in need of our help. They save the lives of countless animals each year.

mmmmmmmm from what I have heard Best Friends has basically just been standing around waiting for photo ops.. they even waited to go out to try to save animals until the camera crew got there.. and that I heard from a friend of mine who was there ? shame on you ... the animals should come first.. you want to RESCUE ? THEN DO IT WITH OUT THE PRESS !!!!!!!!!

Hi Jamie, not sure where you are getting your info from, but it is not true. The BF RR team hit the water the day they arrived- so what that they had someone WITH them to take photos. Then the video team arrived just after they did- big whoop. It is about time they get some press for all the good that they do- and as for the donations- not only does that help cover costs of an operation like this- it also pays for the training and equipment for them to be able to do their work. The small amount of press does not even cover their personal sacrifice to be on the road- working hard, and leaving their family and homes for an operation like this. I am a proud supporter of BF- so please just cut the negative crap and be proud that someone is there to help this community. I send out a big Thank you to ALL the Organizations out there helping- including BEST FRIENDS. Return home safely- we miss you!

Unfortunately, many people don't realize, or don't approve of, fundraising on major "news events" like these are what allow Best Friends, HSUS, and other animal groups to function the OTHER 360 days of the year when they are not in the news. Animals are being rescued all year long, but they don't make the news. So when a news event comes along that causes people to donate money, anyone with half a brain (and any business sense at all) SHOULD take advantage of the photo op so they can rais money to help all those other animals during the rest of the year.

A picture speaks 1000 words... and gets 1000 donations... and it should be used to the full extent so more animals can be rescued next month, and the month after, and so forth.

Who cares if they did only rescue animals while the cameras were on. It is still one less animal that has to suffer and how many animals have you negative people rescued?
