Sorry about that Chief | 5:42 p.m. June 19, 2008
"Get Smart," like its irreplaceable leading man Don Adams (nee Donald James Yarmy), was sui generis. It was the happy product of a collision between a unique gathering of talents and a specific period of time that was ripe for a particular kind of satire. I appreciate the fact that this review takes note of the fact that "Get Smart" (until its lamentable final season on CBS) was sharply and smartly written: It had much more going for it than Don Adams' comic gifts and Barbara Feldon's mellifluous voice and riveting beauty.

Of course, I'll go see the movie anyway.
I know why.... | 6:34 p.m. June 19, 2008
they don't have the young John Groberg to keep everything in line......LOL!!

Anne Hathaway also has big shoes to fill for Agent 99. Barbara Feldon had a whole generation of young boys dreaming about her, including Toto (their song '99' was written about her). She was one of the strongest, smartest female leads. The writing team of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry is hard to beat, too. Where can we get DVD's of the original?

I agree with DKB. I just got back from the theater, and will also recommend this movie. While I really can't claim to know exactly how faithful it is to the original series, I will say that this one is very well done. Lots of very funny stuff, and some good action as well. One of the best movies that I've seen this year!
Bad movie review little too dumb | 1:02 a.m. June 21, 2008
If he can call a movie dumb, then I can call his review dumb.

We see a lot of movies and usually I'm the person crying intelligent movies good...most movies, for stupid people.

This was funny in a million ways and I haven't honestly laughed this hard in years. That's what the other people who saw it with me said EXACTLY.

Most people in the theater laughed just as much.
Thumbs Up | 1:49 p.m. June 21, 2008
I didn't expect much from this move after reading the reviews in this and other papers, but I was pleasantly suprised. The audience was really into it and it was nice to see a new comedy that didn't rely on vulgarity and sex for it the majority of it's jokes.
Great Movie | 3:58 p.m. June 23, 2008
Jeff Vice must have seen a different movie than I saw. I haven't laughed at a movie this hard since "What's Up Doc?". In the Saturday afternoon showing when I saw the movie people were laughing constantly and at the end everyone applauded. Two stars? How about 3-1/2 or 4 to be more accurate.
