Hiring freeze | 12:15 p.m. June 17, 2008
I've been very impressed with Corroon's decision on the soccer stadium. So normally I'd be really impressed to see him offer this kind of solution to a budget shortfall.

Sadly, I've recently learned that Corroon has a bunch of his Democrat Party buddies employed in what amounts to feather-bed positions. They draw a decent salary with very few responsibilities and lots of free time to do the work of the Democrat Party. That just isn't right.

Cut out those jobs and make sure the county has the police, fire, safety inspectors, and other employees it needs.

"We want everybody to really take a hard look at all of their personnel, if they are needed or if they can do without," Jensen said."

Save money _and_ make people happy by not pulling people over for harmless speeding violations - you can still get the ones that are reckless.

Why, James Evans, is that you?

This isn't about party politics (if it was would Michael Jensen be agreeing with the Mayor).

Call it what it is, a prudent response to bad times that are affecting us all.

It sounds like they are going to start making lay--offs. Hopefully it won't be those people who are truly working for their pay checks.

Oh how quickly we forget about the former mayors hair dresser/Exec Secretary that was pulling down 6 figures to "fluff" Workmans hair. As a merit employee at the county I can say that things are acutely being ran by the professional who know how to do the job. Not by random political flunkies. Don't make faceless accusations without backing them up.
Teach Utah County Commisshes | 11:42 p.m. June 17, 2008
Why doesn't Caroon teach the commissioners in Utah County how to be frugal. When times get tough, they just give themselves a 12 percent pay raise. Now you tell me who in this country right now is getting any pay raise, let alone a 12 percenter??
