Don't talk about my mother | 9:57 a.m. May 19, 2008
Sounds like a 4th grade school yard arguement. Grow up Obama. If you can't take the heat, don't go in the kitchen. You and your wife are accountable for what you have said and the record is long and unpatriotic for both of you.

don't use my middle name

don't tell people what my wife said

don't say anything about my ears sticking out
Unwanted mental immage | 10:37 a.m. May 19, 2008
I didn't read the article, but the headline gave me a mental immage I didn't need.

please, no low class comments! | 10:53 a.m. May 19, 2008
Michelle's love for America is a young, tender thing.
It needs to be nurtured and encouraged.

Please no mean, negative, low class comments!

Because, you know, it would really be awkward to have a First Lady who hates America.

If Obama doesn't want anyone talking about what his wife says then quit sending her all over the country campaigning.

It's going to be a long four years if this crybaby gets elected.

What makes Sen. Obama feel that his wife should be exempt from critique for her words spoken on the campaign trail? Hasn't Obama himself made mention of some of the comments that Bill Clinton has made while campaigning for his wife? If Sen. Obama has a problem with voters taking to task what is said by his wife while she is campaining for him, perhaps she should not be campaigning for him.
I wonder... | 12:15 p.m. May 19, 2008
I wonder if she will go back to hating America if her husband isn't elected. If she's never been proud of the United States in her adult life until he husband ran... I assume that means she will go back to hating us again if we don't elect him.

Let's not equate "hate" with "not being really proud"; I've never seen a group to pile on as quickly as some of the responders. Call the Obama's unpatriotic, crybabys,America haters; ridicule his ears - really, people. Who sounds like the 4th grader?
Hating America? | 1:11 p.m. May 19, 2008
I wonder if any you would defend your spouses if someone where to distort your spouses words. I never heard Michelle say she hated America. I watch c-span and they play many speeches of all the candidates and their spouses and mothers (McCains mother) some say things I find offensive. But I will defend the right of the candidates to defend their loved ones and surrogates. We still have free speech in America. I do think less of the GOP for taking the low road in their ads. Missing the real problems of this country. $4.00 gas anyone?

Ohhh my! Hate Michelle Obama - it makes you so much more patriotic! Now you can wear two flag pins to show how superior you are.
You've been Warned America- | 1:18 p.m. May 19, 2008
Don't lay anywhere near my wife!

Judging from the comments above I'd say Utah has shown that it can be every bit as "low class" as Tennessee.

She has put herself in the public eye, there is nothing wrong with people pointing out what she says. If she said she has not been proud of America, then she should be accountable for it. If she is a potential first lady, we need to know what she believes in.

wow did the biases come out on this one... whew... Obama is doing the right thing. He has said, correctly, that old politics you attack the person and ignore the issues facing our country.

He wants to discuss issues, not personalities or what your preacher said last Sunday. It is a shock to our system to have such a high class person, but... let's be thankful he showed up.

About a week ago Cindy McCain said her husband would run a clean campaign. The sun had not gone down in the west before McCain himself was busy attacking Obama on trivia. It is as if they think we have no memory and no brain.

Obama, excllent choice for president.
Fair Game | 3:12 p.m. May 19, 2008
If she is going to be out campaining for her Husband then anything she says can be scrutinized. Sorry Barack that is just how the world turns.

To ANON 1:19
What is low class is Obama fanboys trying to tell us what we can and can not say about Obama. Then calling us "low class" or sometimes "bigots" for saying anything negative about their hero.
re:russ | 3:18 p.m. May 19, 2008
You said Obama wants to discuss issues, what issues? Where does he stand? What does he believe in? His associations and his wife are issues, it speaks to his character and his judgement.
If I was Obama . . . | 4:39 p.m. May 19, 2008
. . . I sure would not want to talk about what my old preacher said, or what my current preacher said, or what my wife said; either.

I would also squeal like a stuck pig if anyone raised those topics.

Even if I had to call names to deflect attention from the outrageous things those closest to me believe, I would do it, too.

But don't let that make you cynical.
I am just a guy.
I am not Obama.
Low Class? High Class? | 4:58 p.m. May 19, 2008
Calling someone low class is pretty low class itself.
High class people don't look down on others.
Who even thinks in terms of class in America.
I guess Obama is too HIGH CLASS, even for his own granny, and certainly for you, America.

Obama, we're not worthy!
Lewt | 5:08 p.m. May 19, 2008
What nasty pettiness. I have no doubt that if Obama had said NOTHING in defense of his wife that that would ALSO somehow be interpreted as inadequate, elitist, and vaguely unmanly. I don't think this wins any votes. Where were they all during Sunday School? All the squealing like stuck pigs I hear is right on this monitor.

What about McCain's wife? Why hasn't she released her tax information? What is she hiding? What groups has she donated to? Where does all her money come from in the way of investments? What about her and McCain having an affair while he was still married? What does that say about her morals? These things need to be answered and will be answered before the election.
so sue me | 6:04 p.m. May 19, 2008
Yes, we admit it, we don't like Obama.
He is a flim flam phoney.
America, wake up!
former dem | 6:05 p.m. May 19, 2008
It is nice to see that there are plenty of people who support Obama for no good reason and no matter what the facts say view him as some kind of deity. In their eyes he can absolutely no wrong and any one who questions him must be a racist, a moron, a bigot, uneducated, too religious or too something. Because no one in their right mind could ever question the great Obama.
Heaven Help Us! | 6:27 p.m. May 19, 2008
Obviously there are a bunch of GOP sheep who read this website. Their tune would be different if it was Romney's wife being attacked. By the way, people should focus on the black experience and perspective to appreciate what she said. Most white Americans don't get it.
America TOTALLY Gets It! | 7:10 p.m. May 19, 2008
Obama's wife wasn't attacked.
She has campaigned, she was accurately quoted and her comments were analyzed- fair game.

People should focus on the AMERICAN experience.

America is the greatest nation on earth.
Our ideals are head and shoulders above those of ALL other nation on earth.
All Americans, including and especially black Americans, have great opportunity to achieve their potential in America. Generations of Americans of all races and backgrounds have done just that.
America is all about hope, promise, opportunity;
and it delivers on all counts.
Michelle Obama doesn't get the greatness that is America.
What part of the black experience and perspective causes her to find nothing to be proud of in America?
Her two Ivy league degrees?
Her family's MILLION dollar a year income?
She is a spoiled clueless brat who doesn't have the maturity to appreciate America.
Where would she be proud to be from?
Where would she rather raise her children?Kenya? Rwanda? Sudan?
Read a newspaper lately?
She should fall on her knees every night and thank God she is an American.
She doesn't deserve to be First Lady of this great nation.
She doesn't have the vision of America.

You all doth protest too much. I think you know the Grand Old Party's time screwing up America is almost over. It's going to be so funny when McCain has to squander his limited money campaigning in red states to try to keep up with Obama. You think Obama's supporters idolize him? You brought this on yourselves by electing twice a man who has no respect at all for the majority of Americans. Utah doesn't matter. For once I am so grateful for that!
Doodles | 11:01 p.m. May 19, 2008
Another absolutly terrible headline. Find some one to check those headlines, the record today is pretty poor.

How about that huge crowd in Oregon? All these people going ga-ga over this guy. They know nothing about him or his wife either. Don't attack Michelle? She has entered into the "arena of ideas"!This is so typical of liberals. They love to stiffle speech!I have heard that the crowd in Oregon reminded them of Woodstock 1969.It reminds me of Munich 1939!! Do the comparision!
Michele | 9:46 a.m. May 20, 2008
Ooohhh...we've made him mad. I know, let's start talking about his wife's ears!
RR | 11:10 a.m. May 20, 2008
Get a life people, honestly. This world has created a disgusting bad habit--criticizing anyone for anything they say, then saying how bad that is all over the internet. I'd like to see any of you be in his shoes, get where he has gotten, being black, having his background, then having people slamming his wife left and right. It would make me so mad if people did that. Good for him for defending his wife and family. Few men have that kind of guts. Good for him.

His wife is being slammed for what she said in public speeches. We have every right to comment on how we feel about her statements.
