It is unclear as to whether this book will have any effect on the case at all. Obviously, jurors who have read the book would not be seated.

A normal print run for a book is 10,000 copies. If 100,000 copies are printed of this book, one out of 3,000 people will read the book, which should not affect jury selection. Even if one out of 300 or one out of 30 reads the book, it shouldn't have any effect on the jury.

Those who would be sympathetic to Elissa Wall will be eliminated if they have read the book, so if a great number of potential jurors have read the book, it could work against her. But, here again, not many people read books, so it should have no effect.

What has had an effect is the lawyers for the defendants complaining about the book, because that has attracted press coverage and driving up sales. Elissa appeared on Oprah, but her publisher lists no big upcoming promotional tours or television appearances. It is unclear as to whether this is an omission on the part of the publisher or whether no tour is planned. The book is #20 onAmazon.

My opinion is that fair and impartial jurors can be subject to any pre-trail publicity and still live up to their vows to judge by the evidence presented at trial alone. Still, potential jurors who will have read Wall's book can expect to be released from duty. So if you don't want to spend a few days or weeks of your life in jury duty, get to the bookstore!

This book stands to help the Defense more than harm it, after reading this book, there were so many inconsistencies with her story, that I am beginning to wonder if she was even raped. Then again maby she made the book as a way of clearing her conscious for what she has done, who knows.

She did change her story under oath, perjury beyond a reasonable doubt.

Becky621, you are right about the inconsistencies in Wall's story. Elissa Wall and I were friends as young girls, and although I haven't read her book (not to mention I don't even want to), I have read enough on the web to testify how inaccurate her story is. I don't know much about her marriage (supposed rape), but I do know that the things she claims as pertains to the girls and women in the flds religion, namely that girls are forced to marry young, women are brainwashed, and a lot of other 'horrible things' are utterly lies. I am a first-hand witness. I truly cannot see how she can say alot of the things she says, and believe it to be the truth. I wish more people could see through all the ugly lies. Sometimes I can hardly stand to read what people have to say about the flds, for I can truly see they are utterly mis-informed.
