"... whether or not"? Come on guys, don't you have an editor? Whether implies or not, so "whether or not" is redundant. This is how bad grammar gets accepted by society, when they see it published in "official" venues. People assume that you know what you're doing as a writer. People tend to believe what they see in print, even when it's subconsciously picked up by them.

I've always been interested in what NBA players who move around in the league think of the different coaches and their styles. Seems Kyle likes Sloan's.

The Jazz do have a pretty good organization, especially when you compare the team to a number of others who have "problem child" players. The Jazz is an organization that obviously values good people as players. D-Will seems to fit that picture.

If Sloan sticks around for another few years and loses some of his top assistants to other jobs, it'll be real interesting to see what kind of offensive and defensive personality the team takes on with different assistants. Even though Sloan is the boss, I'm sure he's smart enough to value his assistants' opinions and knowledge.

I've always bemoaned Sloan's disdain for the trey, shooting or defending it (especially the latter), but in spite of that perceived shortcoming, his defensive style is one of the best. It's the reason the Jazz have success when they do--when they properly play defense.

This is going to be an interesting off season!

Fire/Retire Sloan

I like the respect Sloan gets constantly from the people who know what they are talking about. Like other NBA coaches or players on his own team. I would think if anyones opinion mattered it would be theirs...

in spite of all the talent jazz has had over the years they dont have a single championship to show for it. sloan should have been let go a decade ago. miller has kept him probably coz he's cheap just like all the other jazz players he's had over the years (with the exception of big O). better to get 1 championship than a dozen first and secound round wins.

Things have surely changed in 3 years, but Sloan is still a top paid coach. And worth every penny. Do you think it's easy to attract and keep winners in UTAH? I know I left the state at my first opportunity. It's a nice place to visit. Briefly.
