how many other people during the broadcast did you see with handlebar mustaches? I don't think that one mans appearance is going to make anyone think that Utah is still full of polygamous people. Get over your own thoughts, afterall, we are allowed to have our agency as to how we look.

I was not embarrassed at all by the mayor. I applaud him for being brave enough to show his own style. I think it's great to have an eccentric guy in a sea of conformers. Let people express themselves without the judgement of others.

Oh please! America is a place for difference and individuality is to be applauded. Although I don't personally think handlebar mustaches are particularly good looking I applaud the Mayor's individuality and his staunch stance. Good for you Mayor I agree that you have a right to be who you are.

Wow what a mean letter! You my friend need to get over your vanity! I got a very different impression. I thought he looked great and how would this world be with everyone looking like you want them too. How sorry I feel for you!

I am not embarrassed at all by the Mayor. In a sea of conformers, I applaud his braveness to be unique and show his own style. I wish people would stop judging people for the way they dress. Uniqueness is what makes this world great.
Bay City????? | 7:40 a.m. May 17, 2008
Carrie- you live in Bay City, Texas & you're concerned about Murray's image? Really? Bay City is one big chemical refinery (I helped build the Phillips 66 plant in the 80's.) The bay is manmade & the whole town stinks 24/7. You couldn't pay me enough to live in Bay City!
Wow! | 8:58 a.m. May 17, 2008
I completely agree, Carrie. To bad everyone assumes the worst...this guy definitely doesn't represent Murray residents in manners and fashion.

What a circus act!

Our state? You're in Texas.
Snarr Star | 9:25 a.m. May 17, 2008
As a current Murray resident, I say Snarr is doing just fine, hair face and all. He's an individual and deesn't look like one more blue Ford sedan in the car lot. So what? He runs the best city in the valley and does it well.
Your letter is embarrassing! | 9:42 a.m. May 17, 2008
Wow, glad you live in Texas now! I would hate for anyone to get the impression that Utahns are overly judgemental and shallow.

It would take a whole lot more than an episode of American Idol with a few clips of the freakin' Gateway to change America's view of backwards Utah. In fact, after reading today's letters, I'm convinced Utah is eternally doomed to be viewed as backwards and ill-informed.

Texas gave America its biggest embarrassment as a leader. It takes nerve to point any Murray!
What a mean | 12:31 p.m. May 17, 2008
and hateful letter! I often think about how totally boring and bland this whole world would be if all its inhabitants were just like me. How wonderful it is that the earth is comprised of so many wonderful and diverse cultures and peoples. That is what makes life exciting! A few years ago, we had a Sunday School teacher that had a handlebar mustache rolled up into 1 1/2 inch circles. He was a delightful man and seeing that mustache brought a smile to my face every Sunday! I applaud Mayor Snarr for having the courage to be his own person, and all of you people who are criticizing him are just proving to the world what hateful and meanspirited people you really are. Maybe you don't realize this but you are MUCH more of an embarrassment to Murray City than Mayor Snarr ever was.

I have known the Mayor for many years, he is fine man and great Mayor. He cares deeply about our city and the youth especially. Murray is the Best City in America and Dan is the Best Mayor. Give him a break, he is who he is and we will take him any day over Rocky Anderson and a thousand others who really do disgrace their cities. Maybe the author of this hit piece could send us a full length picture of herself so we can it there is anything we don't like about her. We are proud to have Dan as our Mayor in Murray City whether American Idol likes him or not.

The moustache is awesome. I wish I could grow one like that

So now the Mayor is an embarrasment, what a joke, he is himself and if anyone judges the whole state by one mans appearance then we are in trouble for sure. In fact it was refreshing to see after the press pushing DA off as an innocent sweet child which has become overblown and boring. Thanks Mayor Snarr for being yourself. Get a life folks, Utah has greater things that show the world who they are and it is not DA, MR or Snarr it is our Gove and AG and the poligs

You live in Bay City, TX now. Worry about the image of your current city. Sorry, but you worrying about the image of Murray isn't going to change anything. Nobody cares what you think.

in Boston that moustache might be out of place but for ciminy sakes... this is the WEST!
