I support your position entirely. However, do you, as I ever contemplate the massive waste occasioned by the destruction of private street car systems and interurban rail systems? Government did this, and now we are rebuilding this capactiy at enormous expense. I'm delighted to have rail back, but this waste is one of the great untold stories of U S transportation history.

In Portland, the streetcars share a lane with cars. No waste, no 'great untold story'.
