Where have you been...? | 12:52 a.m. May 18, 2008
So my question is where have you been for the last 8 years? Ever since Bush has been in office he has been criticized. He has been called every name in the book and since the internet has become even bigger while he has been in office, you see blogs and web pages everywhere criticizing him.

Re: Where have you been - It's called sarcasm, and pretty good sarcasm at that.

I think Ryan must have been hiding in a cave in Pakistan not to have heard what the Demos called Bush before he was even inaugurated and every chance they get since. Everything they have said and done has been to fight him. Not that I am a huge Bush fan, didn't vote for him in the last election; but let's be honest, he has had a huge bullseye on his back from the demos for eight years.

Republican Nixon went to China to negotiate.
Republican Reagan went to Russia to negotiate.
Both countries were considered part of The Red Menace.
Who are the Republicans trying to fool?

Bush had the audacity to bring up Nazi's and appeasment. Well, he should know.
President Bush's grandfather was a director of a bank
seized by the federal government because of its ties to a German industrialist who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler's rise to power, government documents show.
Recently declassified National Archives documents show his grandfather Prescott Bush was one of seven directors of Union Banking Corp., a New York investment bank owned by a bank controlled by the Thyssen family. Fritz Thyssen was an early financial supporter of Hitler.

It is all ways insightful to see what liberals really think. In the case of "Anonymous's" comment, he thinks that China and Russia are terrorists.

Kennedy met with Krushev soon after his inagaration, to show him he was a good guy. Krushev took that as a weakness. Within 2 years the world was at the brink of nuclear war. Bush has a point.

I'll bet you don't think Obama's relationship with Rev. Wright and what's his name the domestic terrorist are relevant. Yet Pres. Bush's grandfather is. I believe your trait in a Republican would be called hypocracy. What is it called when the left does it?

Bush aimed his Israel barb, of course, at Obama. Too bad his own Secretary of Defense, Mr. Gates, had said the day before that we'd have to "engage" Iran. "Appeasement" is just another GOP buzzword meant to divide people, like "Elitist." Look for both to be used regularly in this space, along with witty Rush-isms, until Election Day.

Would someone check to see if "Ryan Larson" is Swedish for "Frank Overfelt"?

McCAin supposedly has a bad temper? Looks like either Obama is a touch sensitive or extremely arrogant. Maybe both..... encouraging

Mark B, there is a difference between "engaging" and direct, head-of-state negotiations with no conditions.
Muslims negotiate? | 11:24 a.m. May 18, 2008
Anyone who has lived or spent a lot of time in the middle east can tell you that Islamists never negotiate in good faith. Since they consider us "infidels" (subhuman), they are under no obligation to treat us as equals and negotiate in good faith. Indeed, they can lie, misrepresent and even kill us without violating their own religion all of this because we are infidels.

funny post Lewt! I see you enjoy Frank Overfelt's weekly column also? - I think it's good however that they publish a lot of people's letters - some newspapers I believe make up "letters to the editor"to push an agenda- I'd rather just use the message boards

Except for a very few individuals who recognized the "disaster in the making" in the form of George W. Bush, the first three years of the current administration were given a free pass by both the media and most Americans.
The last five years (and the many problems created by the lack of leadership and effective policy) have opened up the floodgates of criticism. Why do over 70% of American disapprove of the Bush Administration? Why is George W. Bush considered the worst president of modern times? People are beginning to see the mistake that was made when the U.S. Supreme Court stopped the vote count in Florida and made Bush the President of the United States.
Working hand-in-hand with Dick Cheney and a small group of neoconservative advisors, George W. Bush has worked diligently to bring us to the mess that characterized America today. Had the media been doing its business, instead of playing the role of syncophant, American may not be in the place it is today. The sympathy that came in the aftermath of 9/11 was wasted in the Bush agenda.
Fortunately, the Bush Era will soon pass into the dustbin of history. Maybe we can recover!

to Lost, so even though the Bush folk do neither one, we should be scared that Obama will cave when confronted by a guy from Iran with no tie? If it ever DOES happen I won't lose sleep.

Hate to be the one to break this to you Zac 7:29, but Republicans INDEED viewed China and Russia the very same as "terrorists."
Republican Reagan negotiated with Russia.
Republican Nixon negotiated with China.
And now neocon Bush/Cheney are telling the world "
Don't negotiate with anybody."

Hate to be the one to break this to you, but you're wrong.
As a member of one of the largest Republican committees in the 1980s, I can tell you that the RP saw a major difference between the Soviets, the ChiComs and terrorists. Most of the terrorist groups of the 1960s and 1970s were sponsored or supported by the Warsaw Pact and/or PRC, but they were not the same.
They were also not the same as people like the Iranian leader.

Re: Attn: Nonsensical -
Hate to be the one to break this to you, but
like all unknown terrorists (nobody knew Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist) of the day were bad guys:
China, Russia and communists in general.
We vs them
Good guys vs. bad guys
All the same (blanking) BS
It's always power politics today with Republicans always assuming the role of "the good guys" vs. Democrats as "the bad guys (soft on terrism, socialists, liberals ... ad nauseum

Here's what we'll be hearing from McBush from now until November:
Terror! Terror! Terror! Terror! Terror! Terror!(repeat a million times)
It worked in getting the dolts we have for an administration into office last time - didn't it?

They must be stopped.

@ anonymous 3:28 ... mmmmmmm. was it just my imagination or did 2 airliners taken over by Islamic extremists actually fly into the World Trade Center Towers? Didn't that actually have a pretty profound effect on the economy and our way of life? My how soon we forget.

"To GWB": You say "I'll bet you don't think Obama's relationship with Rev. Wright and what's his name the domestic terrorist are relevant. Yet Pres. Bush's grandfather is. I believe your trait in a Republican would be called hypocracy. What is it called when the left does it?"
Did Obama inherit a fortune from Rev Wright?
Prescott Bush made money by supporting Nazi's and helping to fund the building of the war machine. Therefore, when Bush implies that Obama is tantamount to a Nazi appeaser, he is turning a blind eye to his own family history.
Exactly how is Jeremiah Wright or William Ayers relevant here?
And if Ayers is such a bad guy, why is he not in prison, like Bush and McCains friends Jack Abramoff.
There is no hypocrisy.
Obama has not suggested that Bush, McCain or anyone else was guilty of something (appeasing terrorists or Nazis) that he or his family (Granddad) was involved in.
Perhaps you can fill me in on what Obama did that was hypocritical.
McCain talking about Rev. Wright is hypocritical when his endorsing Pastor Hagee said the jews asked for the holocaust and referring to the Catholic church as the "Great Whore".

Does that mean you want a Communist America? That's the way the libs are taking us. They must be stopped, too.
