"the michael jordan shot was in game one of the finals and it wasn't for the championship. "
I think your confused... the article is referring to the last shot that Jordan ever took as a Bull; the shot that cost the Jazz another championship.

to get fcts straight...in what universe? It was Jordan's final shot of the year! As far as last night's game goes though, I'm more upset about Gasol shooting foul shots for getting elbowed in the head by Odom! Someone please explain to me again how the league is NOT pulling for the Lakers.

That rebound is entirely on Okur - he showed no heart. At that point in the game we all know the refs aren't going to blow the whistle. He had position he was just not willing to muscle up and get that rebound. Yeah he was pushed but not hard enough that he couldn't get the rebound if he wanted it. And by flopping he took himself out of the play completely allowing an easy dunk. I like Okur and hope he can come back strong in games 6 AND 7!

The Michael Jordan shot was Game 6, In Salt Lake. I believe the date was June 14th. So get your facts straight, "get fcts straight".

Great Series - Lakers vs. Jazz
Keep it up, I want to see game 7 in SoCal where the Jazz will show the world how good of a team they are on the road!
Laker fans - take note - The Jazz will punish you in game 6
Game 7 - Jazz Win
All ye Laker fans who have been accusing the Jazz fans of yacking it up and crying....
heed my advice.....your finger was pointing at us, but you had 3 fingers pointing right back at you....
meaning this...
I live in SoCal.......I know tons of Laker fans, they have been beaching and moaning all season long....lose this series, and listen how bad it will be.
I had to listen to all the crap your Laker fans whined about down here in SoCal ....if you don't think so, come down, enjoy great weather and listen to your 570 talk show where anybody can call in.....talk about whining......one word...Shut UP!!
I don't envy me when the Jazz win, because I won't hear the end of it living here in SoCal!
Lakers are the biggest whiners in the league if Kobe doesn't get his way......
Laker Fans....
ONE Word....
DENIED......

I am a big Jazz fan and all, but you have to agree that all teams including the jazz try to let the refs play the game for them. If okur would have just boxed out then Gasol would have been over the back more than he already was and the ref probalby would have called the foul. The fact that okur was standing straight up right under the basket makes if a lot easier for the ref to not call the foul. I say that the NBA had been messed up by the FLOP and becuase of the FLOP the refs are in a hard spot becuase they have to make a split second decision which to fans is easy but in the heat of the moment is not. NBA players are babies and need to man up and play real basketball, this league should go back to being the NATIONAL basketball league, not would and then maybe the foreign player would take the FLOP with them. GO JAZZ!!!!!
Doug is Right! | 5:45 p.m. May 15, 2008
Memo needed to back Gasol out with his body rather than trying to draw the foul. 99% of the time that foul will not get called, especially in the last minute of a tight game. If Memo had pushed Gasol out of the way with his butt, it's much more likely that the Jazz end up with the rebound or a very clear over-the-back call.
That said, it's not the reason we lost the game. We lost because we could not get the ball in the hole on the other end. Defensively we played pretty well except for Gasol. If we get 2 or 3 of the in-the-paint shots or open J's that we missed to go in we're in a position to win the game. The refs can't make the shots go in for us.

What's wrong with the NBA | 5:56 p.m. May 15, 2008
Had that been Okur pushing Gasol, no doubt a foul would have been called. But that's how the NBA operates, like WWF wrestling. That's why it will never compare to the NCAA's March Madness, or the World Series, or Super Bowl, or Master's, or Kentucky Derby.
LA Fakers | 6:18 p.m. May 15, 2008
This Lakers is the most overrated Lakers team ever in the history of the NBA. Jazz will come back to haunt them in game 6. Carlos Boozer will need to show up in game 7. Wheres Carlos?

Stop whining.
Was it a push? yes. BUT Memo acted like he got shoved by Shaq?!?!?! Man up.
I'm a die-hard Lakers fan! Trying to be objective, there a plenty of bad calls both ways.
In Game 4 in OT when the Lakers were down by 2, Boozer should've been called for an offensive fouls when he decked Fisher on the play where AK got the dunk and the foul. We were down 2 and then were down 5..game over. So please stop complaining.

Gretzky | 7:02 p.m. May 15, 2008
the NBA is rigged. in the last 3 minutes of the game, the Jazz had to play against the refs too. such a joke. Kobe was NOT fouled by Boozer since he was 4 feet away. Kirilenko did not foul as the ball rolled off the laker leg out of bounds...gimme a break!!! the NBA is a JOKE!!
series problems | 7:29 p.m. May 15, 2008
Yes the refs have called every little ticky tack foul against the jazz and nothing on the Lakers but that's not the main problem. Boozer needs to decide to show up in the post season and Okur needs to man up, play defense, and box out to get a rebound. Win a game on the road!
Gretzky is right | 7:44 p.m. May 15, 2008
The last five minutes of that game last night pretty much turned me off of basketball. I've been a fervent Jazz supporter for years, but when the refs decide to play the game, I can't help but think that it's all rigged. Even if it's not, it's ridiculous. I'll stick to soccer, where the ref almost never decides the game.

there were many questionable calls (even extremely obvious calls) that went the lakers way, but memo was winded and didn't box out (or even jump) to get the ball and flopped instead. if a foul was called, all the national media would be talking about how big of a flop okur did (like what happened with kirilenko and scola). jazz didn't get help from the refs but did have their chances but just couldn't convert.
pslakerfan | 8:32 p.m. May 15, 2008
Just curious, how is it that you Jazz fans have such an incredible ability to notice these shoving, pulling, over the back, fouls in LA, but don't seem to see them committed by the Jazz in Utah. Must be the baby blue glasses that you watch the game through. Home team gets the calls, just another reason to get the number 1 seed.

Why do all you Laker fans keep posting on this site? Ya worried? Or gloatin'?
that random guy | 8:53 p.m. May 15, 2008
That game was idiotically reffed on both sides...Steve Javy is the biggest Jazz hater in the NBA,it seems like because the Jazz have a reputation for fouling a lot...the refs make sure they calll every tiny little thing.the 2 games the Jazz won were well reffed games.oh and we all know the front office would love to see lakers celtics in the finals so whats to keep them from helping the pansie Lakers who cant get there on their own.
Reality | 11:28 p.m. May 15, 2008
The Jazz foul more than any other team in the NBA. Why is it such a big deal when they foul more than the Lakers. They do it to every team they play.

Kentucky Derby? Are you kidding me? How could that possibly be better than the NBA Playoffs?
faraway fan | 12:31 a.m. May 16, 2008
The Jazz had this game in their hands and let it go...the loss was on them...but I still don't know how Gasol got to shoot free throws when Odom elbowed him in the head...would one of you Laker apologists please explain that to me?
re: LA Fakers | 8:29 a.m. May 16, 2008
I'm not sure we're defining overrated the same way. If the following is "overrated" then what does that make the Jazz?
Championships: 15
Conference Titles: 28
Division Titles: 29
HOF: Baylor, Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Goodrich, Wilt, West, Mikan, Mikelsen, Pollard, Martin, Lovellette
Future HOF: Shaq, Kobe
MVP Awards: 8
Coaches: 2 of the most winningest coaches in NBA history (Phil Jackson, Pat Riley) and Sharman, the coach that led the Lakers to the 33 game win streak (longest in NBA history)

Football play review | 8:57 a.m. May 16, 2008
In the NFL the league added the official review for refs because sometime refs miss calls. So, I dont' want to hear that the NBA is favoring the Lakers. This happens in every series with every team.
You can't be serious in suggesting that the Jazz have NEVER benefited from a miss call. I'm not saying it was a good call to give Gasol FT. Clearly Sasha in GM 3 or 4 was not elbowed by DWill but it looked that way in fast motion to me until I saw the replay.
If that's the case with fans-it looks one way in fast motion until you see the replay why assume refs dont' have the same issue? If you want this to be a perfect system maybe the NBA should implement the same NFL rule for play review. We can give each coach 1 review per quarter and the refs will be able to overturn their calls.
As a Lakers fan I would be totally on board with an NBA wide addition of the review option. Yes, that means Gasol wouldn't have shot FT but who cares, I'm convinced that it would even out on the other end.
