Anyone can say anything they like, get over it.

I like Larry Miller, but he does have a choice like the article states. However, he is a hypocrite. He does not need to own the Jazz or any other entity that goes against his beliefs. There are other ways to make an income. If you truly believe in keeping the sabbath day holy you do it. There are a lot of people that could work on Sunday and make more money but they chose not to. I don't care what he does, but it is hypocritical to operate a business on Sunday and not be willing to work on Sunday.

Job,

If you believe Larry Miller is hypocritical I suggest you look in the mirror more closely.

Do you keep your money in a bank? It supports businesses that work on Sunday.

Do you use power, water, and gas on Sunday? That requires people to work on Sunday.

Do you drive on Sunday? That requires law enforcement and other emergency personal to work on Sunday.

So let me understand, it's different for you?

Larry Miller is NOT a perfect man, he is only a Great man. It's to bad that many of us can't even achieve that level.

Job,
Uh, Larry is not working when watching the Jazz games. Therefore you theory is wrong.

Larry has asked the NBA to not have the Jazz play on Sunday while in Salt Lake City. For the most part he has made this work out.

The other part of the equation is "How dare you deny someone from the right to work on Sunday". Some people don't care to work.

If a person who works for LHM does not work on Sunday, the group has been told by Larry to try and honor that committment.

True, Larry does not have to own the Jazz, but if he did not, then this whole point is mute because there would be "Utah Jazz"

Hey, it doesn't stop with LHM (whom I happen to admire, for all he has done with the Jazz) I seem to remember a famous quarterback, from a local religious college, who had a law degree, who played football every Sunday, in the NFL. He was in an excellent postion to make plenty of money being an attorney, but he choose to work almost every Sunday, all winter, flaunting one of the "big ten" in front of millions of people!

A lot of smaller business owners close on sunday, can't Miller afford to do the same as a mom and pop operation? Maybe it's more a question of greed not hypocricy.

To help clarify things. We are encouraged to not work on Sundays. There are businesses and services that require people to work on Sundays. What would you do, if you were on a business trip or vacation and the hotel locked its doors on Sunday.

How about the hospital. If Miller owned a hospital and said that he avoids going there on Sunday, would you have the same complaint.

Fact is, there are some businesses and professions that work on Sundays.

What Larry Miller is doing is honerable. He does what he can to honor his God.
Their Choice | 12:07 p.m. May 16, 2008
What does it matter? Don't people have more important things to worry about than whether or not someone is working on Sunday or not?

Get a life People!!

"Simply put, we are not the judge. That is left to a higher power." I agree but notice this LDS belief works for Miller and not for gays who marry.

Larry is NOT honorable, at least not for this silly reason. What is the difference between going to the game on a Sunday and going on TV to talk about the game on a Sunday? Huh?

Ok, so larry has asked for the NBA not to have Jazz games on sunday and overall they have complied. BUT Larry has not asked that of the PCL that oversees the Bees, they have baseball on Sundays. He hasn't stopped running his movie theaters on Sundays. He hasn't closed his restaurants on Sunday. The Fanzz stores in the mall are open on Sundays. His radio stations and tv stations run on sundays. If he was so committed to this belief he would close EVER business he owns on sundays so that others would not have to work. But he's more interested in the money then in really following his convictions.

LHM has some good points and some bad points. He's human. Pointing out hypocrisies is something people just like to do I guess. Hope "they" don't start witting editorials about mine!
What? | 4:33 p.m. May 16, 2008
What, now he has to go to the games on Sunday to make these people happy?
Anonymous | 4:49 p.m. May 16, 2008
Larry miller does not own a hospital, he owns a basketball team.

It Is not necessary to play basketball on the sabbath.

But when it happens refs, ushers, jazz dancer, tictket takers, people who work in food busines, reporters, tv people, etvc etc etc, have to work.

Any empolyee of larry miller must work to support this endevour.

They have to work and he choses not to show up makes him a hypocrite.

Have you ever thought that maybe Larry's not going to the games has nothing to do with being LDS? Maybe it is a family related decision. Maybe before the Miller's owned the Jazz, they committed Sunday to being family time. A game on Sunday takes a good chunk of prime family gathering time. Talking on a sports show at 10:30 at night is probably not right in the middle of Larry's time with his grandchildren.
