The timing of the FLDS raid is a disgusting political move! First, the Texans had an informant inside the compound FOR FOUR YEARS YET THEY DID NOTHING! What, was the informant not able to see that underage girls were pregnant? Were the Texas authorities too dumb to see all those welfare checks being sent to the same address?! Then along comes the fraudulent call from Obama delegate Rozita Swinton (sp?), which the Texans knew was fake because the calls came from out of state, not from within the compound, as she stated. Suddenly, the Texans are ready to pounce with a military-type round-up including Baptist buses to take the children away. Texas political agenda, anyone?!

The FLDS church problem won't hurt Romney. Romney will be able to articulate why he or the LDS have nothing to do with the FLDS cult. Mitt, early on in the campaign said: "I can't think of anything more awful than polygamy." He is a fourth generation "monogamist" who has been loyal to his wife in their marriage (which of course shows). Mitt family has been in the media and they are "media darlings" not at all to be confused with the backward, uneducated, isolated, prejudiced, FLDS people.

The FLDS issue won't hurt the LDS Church either. It actually will give LDS the chance to do MORE missionary work and proselyting and clarify how great the LDS Church is as a worthy organization and the priesthood arm of the Kingdom of God.

Romney is an effective leader and politician; he'll do just fine.

While not my first choice, I am a Utahan READY to vote for John McCain. Go John!

For the record... Mitt Romney is not a 4th generation monogamist. Mitt's great grandfather was a poligamist That makes him 3rd generation. But, it doesn't really matter anyway. The Mormon church quit practicing polygamy in 1890. The LDS (NOT THE FLDS) church beieves in"obeying, honoring, and sustaining the laws of the land". Actually, Mitt has less of a sordid past than Hillary or Obama. (or Mc Cain for that matter). Mitt's my man !

In the midwest the flds situation is almost a non event. The local paper (Indianapolis) carried a couple of page 4 articles when the raid first took place and that was all. The flds situation is of much less importance outside of Utah and Texas than it is in those states. I don't see it being a political factor for or against Romney.

Mitt will never be chosen as VP. First of all McCain's mom hates Mormons. Second Romney would be foolish to tie his name to McCain. If they loose, he will look like a loser, and if they win and the economy, war, and whatever else you can think of goes bad and we have a failed one term administration he will still be a loser.

By the way for those of you that are interested, the republican delegates at the convention are still not happy with McCain. Many of them booed Sen Bennett when he tried to speak up for McCain.

Voters are short-sighted and naive. The same folks who won't vote for Sen. Obama because they falsely believe that he is a Muslim will also tar and feather Gov. Romney because they associate his faith with that of the FLDS...

Mitt Romney is what this nation needs, but unfortunately the corruption is so widespread that I'm afraid he is too good for the office. This will be the first time in my adult life that, in my opinion, there is NO viable choice for President. It saddens me, but then again it is predicted.

Mitt Romney is LDS not FLDS. Hello people these two religions are DIFFERENT. Mitt Romney does not have to stand up for them if he does not feel the need to. He is not their prophet; he did not make this feud happen to them. Some PEOPLE need to stop being so judge mental and hypocrites. Try thinking what is best for the county not what would make you happy. It was the FLDS own actions that has put them in the situations that they are in. What is the fuss about this FLDS?. They are absolutely a different religion from the mormons. I think it is a Huckabee scheme: trying to tie Mitt Romney with the FLDS, which is insane, ignorant and ill intent. Mitt Romeny is a monogamist and he is the only Republican pres candidate who is not divorced. He is married to Ann for 28 years. what more proof do you want?. He has 5 sons and 10 grandchildren from the same woman. An ideal first family. More ideal and more conservative than McCain's family. McCain is divorced but we will support him especially if he picks Mitt as VP.

Mitt isn't suppose to be VP. If any thing he will be chosen to a position to move him so far away form the old Washington gang as possible. The gang's job is to destroy jobs and break America and Mitt has worked hard to save businesses, and jobs. That's why they don't like him. It has nothing to do about him being a Mormon. Every one of the good ol' boys (his contenders) were digging up everything they could find against him, in their failings they invented things that never existed. The Mormon smears belong to them. They are afraid of him being VP. They're just using him as a carrot to get conservatives to donate to McCain. They're using Mitt and us too. I'm writing MItt in for president to save my job.

The timing of the raid and the vans that took the people away with Baptist Church signs on each of them made me think immediately that this raid was timed to hurt any chances Mitt might have had to be VP. They announced they had someone on the inside of the compound for 3 to 4 years. Why now- to if not to seal the fate of a Mitt political possibbility? The Baptist church is terrified of him gaining a position which would legitimize the Mormon religion. If you think people will separate the LDS from the FLDS you are mistaken. They do not here in Virginia and I've heard several reporters who simply refer to the compound and other's like it as Mormon offshoots. If Mitt held a political position now he would have to spend all his time answering questions about early Mormon polgamy practices, etc. I think "they" have won this round and from my standpoint his having run has caused more unfavorable attention on the church. I think the recent publicity has ruined any chances of his being VP.

It saddens me to think that we as good American people have lost our sense of judgement that we are no longer looking for a candidate that has good moral values, good judgement to love our country to keep our freedoms, protect us from terrorist, keep our jobs in America, help our country in general as our first fathers intended our country to be. George Washington is crying, "what have you done to my nation"! Sorry to disappoint all of you that are against Mitt, but he isn't the one you should be concerned about at the moment. It is Obama, & Clinton. I just think there are still some Hunkabee supporters out there that what him to be VP. We are struggling for the VP seat instead of focusing on getting the nomination done with first. McCain isn't going to pick Mitt as VP, although he should. Sad as it is, this whole polical arena is about power and glory. It isn't about loving our country. It is about loving themselves and the glory it will bring to them. At first I wanted Mitt for VP, but now I don't want him in that arena to tarish his name.

If Mitt accepts the job as McCain's whipping boy in the VP slot, he will destroy all chances for himself in 2012.

Mitt is the man! He was my first choice as President. Millions of people are voting for a candidate who sat in a church for over 20 yrs. led by a 'pastor' who preached hatred towards America, whites and Jews. His church's doctrine is Black Theology, and they adhere to the Black Value System. This same candidate is friends with shady corrupt associates such as American born terrorists and real estate crooks. And to boot it all, this candidate has NO experience. I believe that the Texas raid on the YFZ Ranch was motivated in part by political considerations. At the time of the raid, there was a lot of chatter in Republican circles about Mitt Romney being the V.P. for John McCain. If the Southern Evangelical base did not want Romney as the Republican presidential nominee, then they would not accept him as V.P. neither. When the FLDS children were removed from the FLDS Ranch, the buses that were used were from the First Baptist Church in that area. I believe that there was a co-ordinated effort between the Southern Baptists and Texas officials to launch the raid when they did, knowing that it would hurt Mitt Romney. FDR once said that in politics, nothing happens by accident. The FLDS raid wasn't by accident either. The Republicans are going to lose anyway in November. If Mitt Romney was the V.P. under John McCain, he would be blamed in part for the defeat. His chance to run in the future for any political office would be destroyed.Thank-You
