Free speech should extend to religion. I thought this was a free country.

It seems that many churches totally disregard the law with no consequences. Now on the other hand let the Mormons hold a political rally in one of their stake centers or assembly halls, and then watch the IRS go to work.

I have heard that the only successful prosecution of a church for being too involved in a political campaign was when a church bought a full page ad in a national news magazine promoting a candidate.

No one's stopping anyone from saying anything they think is important, but churches acting like political parties should expect their tax status to come into question. Then again, maybe the Attorney General just hasn't decided yet, and doesn't plan to until......... December.
