It's beyond time to look at the big picture and plan in detail for the future, obviously. Before ANY new coal, natural gas or nuclear projects are approved there needs to be a realistic and transparent time line on how long the product will last and a commitment by the industry to be working diligently on renewable sources (other than nuclear) for when the current project runs out of fuel. The short-term profit-and-use-it-up mentality needs to disappear. And Utahans, like other spoiled Americans, need to learn to live with less. I vote for a lowered "standard of living." We CAN live without plasma tv and energy guzzling lighting, over-cooled and heated buildings, and all our electrical toys. We can't live without some energy, including that needed for hospitals, water pumps, and refrigeration. Let's prioritize and plan!
