Its the American way, spend money you dont have. The question is did the government learn this from the population or the other way around?

The wholesale change necessary to put us back on our feet is going to be a painful exercise indeed. What it will take to change peoples' attitudes will be horrendous. But one day we will have to learn again to save, live within our means, and work.

To anonymous 7:29 "WORK!!!". Leftists unite against such an outrage! Why should we when we can get the government to act as our agents and take it from someone else.

The government spending money that they don’t have was a result of the new deal where the government prolonged a global two year depression to ten years. Hard work and self reliance was American and still exists, at least on the right. Those who espouse a return to this ideal are beaten down by liberals who want nothing to do with an educated independent electorate.
A future of change filled with hope, and little else…

Michaelh,

the change we are promised, is what we will have left in our pockets when the liberals get done giving us hope

As a student of The Great Depression -

Welcome to The GREATER Depression.
(the population explosion makes it the greatest ever)

Jim, you don't have to accept the short term measure. You can send your rebate right back to the government. If enough people feel the way you do, then there will be plenty of money back in the government's pockets to build their 10 million dollar bridges to nowhere.

As for me, I'm keeping mine.

just be glad the Chinese have the same poor credit underwriting standards all the mortgage lenders had who got people with a $15,000 income into a $750,000 house.

Liberals don't think war is a entitlement program that future generations will have to pay for. This is a conservative idea. When was the last time you heard a conservative say he wanted to share sacrifice and show his support for the war by paying for it?

You should thank liberals. They keep you form looking in the mirror at how you see government.

Well put, LOL!

Never give an inch to the lunatic right-wing.
That's how they got us into the mess we're in today.
(we all know who they voted for)
Fight them tooth and nail all the way to November.
