Weber St has a football team? Interesting.

Way to go McBride, way to focus on the players having BRAINS! What is wrong with you!!! Weber State needs to not focus on a "Strong Growing Football Program" if it can't focus on GRADUATING their players at the same time. This isn't the 70's anymore, it is vital that players have decent grades to maintain the schools "Standards" and also have some "School Pride" in scholastics. This is an important thing for young men who want to play ball, that they know SCHOOL comes first! As COACH it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SET A BAR and insure a Standard is met to be a "Team Player" and a "Contributer" both for the team on the field and OFF! That includes your behavior and your grades, not just your performance on the field.

Its time for Weber State to develop young coaches rather than acting as a bottom rung allowing local, fired head coaches or assistant's to still drawn a check.
McBride is old school, where you only thought of academics as a way to keep kids eligible. Graduation wasn't important, you didn't really think much about kids who had used up their four years of playing.
If Ron hasn't been able to put together winning teams and his negligence of academics is this bad: WHY IS HE STILL THERE?

(APR) Academic Progress Rate is a 4 year historical "retention" average per team reflective of the 2003-2007 academic years. So -- if you can perform a mathematical equation -- for almost two (50%) of the APR years you'd like to hold McBride accountable to, he was thousands of miles away coaching in another league, and at another time. Also note that typically, whenever there is a change in coaching staff (2005-06 at Weber when MAC arrived), some scholarship players will exit the program to transfer or exit the program and then appear negatively in the institution's retention APR.
Interestingly, Montana State, Sacramento State and Portland State (all in the same Big Sky Conference with Weber) have had Football coaching changes over the last few years...and are all seeing penalities this year as well.
I'm sure Mac will take whatever heat you want to give, but suggest you all get educated before pointing fingers. As I understand, 7 of the 9 teams in the Big Sky Conference are below the NCAA's 925 APR requirement this year including Montana State University, Sacramento State University, University of Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona University, Weber State University, Portland State University and Idaho State University.

I was taught that you don't justify your failings by pointing out that others fail too. Maybe you were given differing ideas.
If you support the man, rather than tell me that there have been other coaching changes, and that other programs are not doing well academically, why not offer up REASONS WHY MCBRIDE SHOULD STAY. Is it because WSU can save money over hiring a young, bright coach with a history of winning, but he would want more money? Is it because McBride has taken Weber to such great heights in the Football Championship Division that we can overlook the poor academic showing during his time on the job? Or do you support him because his teams play such great football that the stands are packed and now the Purple and White will need to rent LaVell Edward's Stadium in order to give folks a chance to see the Wildcats? All you came up with to show your support was that he was in Kentucky when the school first had bad years. I want to hear reasons to keep him, not excuses for his kids not doing well in class.
