The need for these towers is driven by demand. If you don't like it, reduce cell phone usage in favor of land lines. I'll bet the writer is among the first to complain of dropped calls or dead spots.

Of course, I don't think an isolated cell tower is anywhere near as intrusive or obstructive as is a long line of poles used so often for power, phone, and cable distribution.

As for health concerns, a cell phone user gets a LOT more RF energy from the phone at his ear than he will spending months camped under a cell phone tower.

Boo Hoo. I'm tired of nimby-ism, and banana ism. Everybody wants wireless coverage. This is how its' done.
Many people now want oil shale development. Nuclear plants. Energy independence.
Fine. It all comes with serious implications for the view off somebody's deck. Oil lines, powerlines, srip mining, you name it.
You might have to walk around a bit for your unobstructed view of the rainbow. But you cel coverage is top notch when you do.

Lets not forget windmills and solar panels.

I bet they could have put it up while you were on vacation and you would have had no idea that it was there for months....it's funny what we see and then what we really see...

Unless you paid for the view - you don't own it. You want to keep your view? Then pay the elementary school not to put up the cell tower.
You'll get used to it | 11:25 a.m. May 6, 2008
This may be hard to believe at first, but eventually you'll get used to it and hardly even notice it is there. At least that's been my experience so far with Cell towers.

But I don't see them right out my front window. That could be different.
Tradeoffs | 2:54 p.m. May 6, 2008
Many things in life are a tradeoff. Though some peoples views are a little less quality, These towers allow everyone to have a cell phone and provide many employment and investment opportunities.

If you are so opposed to the cell tower, you should try and fight with the company and at least get them to make it look like a tree. There are companies out there that turn cell phone towers into trees.

As I think Ogden Nash said on a similiar subject

I think that I shall never see
A billboard as lovely as a tree.
Indeed, unless these billboards fall,
I'll never see a tree at all.
