Well Mr. Harmon was only off by two conferences. He forgot that the Big 12 and Big East, not just the PAc10 and Big Ten, are opposed to a playoff. I guarantee that Tranghese would feel differently about a playoff system if the BCS bowls weren't paying out $10-15 million. That is the lure that keeps them opposed to a playoff. I laugh every time I read one of these athletic directors or university presidents expressing concern that football would become a "two semester sport" if a playoff were introduced. Hello! Last time we checked, basketball was a two semester sport, playing around 3 major holidays and fall semester finals in December. Somehow the players continue being student/athletes (that is the point, isn't it?) and the season continues uninterrupted from mid-November to the first week of April. That's nearly two full semesters. When they say they are concerned about the impact of a playoff on their student/athletes, it is a specious argument that is not supported by the examples of other sports. Track has Indoor/Outdoor seasons that encompass Winter semester and spring term. The BCS opposition is all about not sharing revenue outside the "elite" conferences, not academics.

I simply cannot believe that these grown men can HONESTLY sit around and discuss this and come to the conclusion that a playoff "of any kind" is not in the best interest of college football. Give me a Break!

Someone should poll the fans of these conferences "opposed" to such a playoff. I'm willing to bet 75% of those fans do want a playoff.

the "major" conferences are afraid to go into a tournament with 2-3 SEC teams that will show the world just how shallow their playing level is. they prefer a patsy opponent in a big dollar bowl (USC vs #14 Illinois; did anybody care?)
the presidents are greedy liars.
the BCS is about preserving pride for big reputation programs that no longer measure up and assuring them an undeserved big payday.
too many schools don't want to know who really is best, they are sure it isn't them and they prefer the cover the current "system" gives.
BCS is an anti-competitive fraud.
Sen Reid, HELP! ha ha

can someone in the "know" explain how these clows have not been sued for discrimination? it is the height of hypocrisy to claim that the BCS and its member schools can claim that they are THE best of college football while they continue to spit on each and every non-BCS school in the country.
this is a serious case of colusion and exclusion and discrimination that in the business world would have meet with massive litigation. or am i up in the night?
the BCS has been allowed to exist because no university in the country will call it what it is. the king has no clothes and is a drugged out wacko who has lost his mind.

Can somebody please explain to me how the these ten or so people seem to be the most powerful people in the world?
Every fan in America wants a playoff system. Why can't the NCAA do something about these criminals. Why do conferences get to decide who the National Champ is? I thought it was NCAA footbal not BCS Commissioner football.
I am beside myself at the power these few "BCS" people have in regards to college football.

It's not about the game of football that Americans love or the players it's about the University's making sure they get their cut. Unfortunate, but true, it's all about the money and it will always be that way.
