Another parent exploiting his child. Billy boy was not such a hot star himself and is pathetic to watch on Disney. Makes the dough of his daughters young talent. Typical

Poor Miley was obviously mis-quoted. The media printed:
"I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about,"
The correct quote was: "I apologize to my fans, who's money and worship, I care so deeply about."

Ms. Cortez' last sentence, stating that only Mr. Cyrus knows why he didn't stop the photo shoot has an obvious answer.
Sex sells. Plain and simple. She's 15, and in the eyes of pop culture, it's time she grows up and starts selling herself. When you're dealing with money in the millions, why let personal responsibility get in the way?

He was counting the money, Ms. Cortez. The question in the title must have been rhetorical.

Dad was in the corner, counting out his money.

Oh good grief people - this is an example of what's exactly wrong with the prudish attitude of America. She showed nothing! It was the same as anything you'd see at the beach, or heck, in the typical shopping mall.
And to suggest that her dad was exploiting her? Good grief - you want to talk exploiting how about focusing some attention on how many Utah mothers dress their little girls in skanky outfits and encourage physical shallowness.
This is a non-scandal that has been turned into a scandal by the media and by the religious prudes who obviously have such a self-loathing for the human body.
Grow up.

Let's see, she is only 15 years old, and dad and
mom are exploiting her at such a young age.Could
they be grooming her? Quick, send in the CPS, and
save her from her parents. That's all the excuse
Texas used. But that will not happen, because she is
doing what CPS and the world wants. Selling herself
for money. Must be those good old, down on the farm,
Country Morals. YE! HA!

I'm 16, my friends and I love the show Hannah Montana and we love Miley Cyrus. I think parents are being too critical of Miley and her parents. Not all families have the same values as the majority of Utahns. If the media wasn't making such a big deal out of the photos most children wouldn't have seen them. It's very rare that you see a twelve year old girl carrying around the most recent copy of Vanity Fair. If Miley's parents were comfortable with the photo shoot that's their choice. If the media wasn't plastering the photos all over the news, chances are that children wouldn't have been affected by them. If anything parents should be mad at the media for publishing the photos all over the place. Young stars like Miley are dealing not only with the pressure of being a good influence, but also dealing with the pressure of growing up faster to move forward in their careers. Instead of pointing fingers at her parents and holding a grudge against your kid's favorite star, maybe you should realize that even Miley Cyrus forgets the effect she has on a younger audience, she has apologized. Forgive and forget.

To Jeffery:
It is not about being prudish it about turning a 15 year old, let me repeat it again, a 15 YEAR OLD GIRL into sex object.
Should it ever be okay to make children into objects of sex?

Don't forget that Dads claim to fame is Achey Breaky Heart. Not exactly rocket science.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus (Miley’s parents) had left the photo shoot prior to the bed sheet photo and never saw any shots of it prior to now.
I knew something was up as soon as I saw the clever wording of the Vanity Fair statement that said “Miley's parents and/or minders were on the Vanity Fair set all day during the photo shoot.” That is to give the impression that the parents were there for the entire shoot when the truth was the parents were there until shortly before the now infamous photo was taken; her grandmother and a publicist were there at that time. Both parents were mortified when they saw the photos and knowing Billy Ray and Tish, they would’ve never let it happen had they still been there. Up to that point, the shoot was fine. No surprise that Annie waited until the parents left to ask Miley to disrobe. I agree with Disney on this one. She (Annie) and Vanity Fair should be ashamed of themselves.
For the record, Billy Ray Cyrus was a star before Miley was born, and still is. He's been touring/recording nonstop since 1992.
