great news for Beck | 1:44 p.m. April 22, 2008
Now that he's got a bull-dozer in front of him he won't have to worry so much about protection breaking down and watching the rush rather than making his reads. Plus, it's only going to help the running game which will loosen things up for Beck. I'm not expecting miracles this first year, but some progress (like 4-5 wins) would be really nice. Go Phins!

Parcell's will find a "diamond in the rough" to replace John Beck like he did with Drew Bledsoe and Tony Romo-poor Beck-great college quarterback though-Beck needs to get traded and learn from a quality quarterback like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning-oh by the way, Weddle is still way up there on Beck with NFL stats and popularity! GO UTES!

"ROADY" lets try comparing qb to qb. We both know that Beck and Smith went to terrible teams. Lets see where Beck is after three years and if he is riding the pine like Smith is now! Comparing a qb to a defender is nonsense. Talk to you in a few yrs..

what a shock the tuna goes with a BCS school, a wolverine. expect to see a lot of "BCS" schools talent to be signed by dallas south...i mean the dolphins.

Roady .. are you serious? You are making Ute fans look bad with your ignorance. Anyone that knows anything about football knows that DBs transition in to the NFL very quickly. Many can make impacts their rookie years. It's very rare that a QB is able to do the same. Not to mention Weddle has an awesome pass rush to work with, so he, or any other Charger DBs are not as exposed. Beck, in the mean time, had no one to block for him, no one to throw to, and no one to hand the ball of too. I think Weddle is a solid player, but you are comparing apples and oranges here.

went with a non-BCS player like David Carr, or Alex Smith. They've really turned out solid.

That's like me comparing Steve Young to Eric Weddle. If that's the case then Weddle isn't even a blip on the radar! How about Weddle going head to head against Harline on a fade route? How did that go? Weddle can't even keep a lilly-white TE from Orem who will probably never play in the NFL from scoring!
