While I agree with you that some people should take a time to cut others a little slack, I am reminded of the meaning of manners...respect for others. The movie theater takes great pains to remind everyone to turn off their cell phones before the beginning of the movie . Common courtesy also dictates cutting slack and showing respect for someone who doesn't show respect for others. Like your column today. By the way, your husband should have been using Immigrant Song by Led Zepplin if he really wants to hear his ring.

Reminds me of my aunt's funeral that I attended last year. There were three LDS General Authorities on the stand, and my cell phone went off not once, but twice. I could not look anyone in the eye for the rest of the day, and I know the kinfolk would like to ban me from the family reunion!

While attending my son's wedding in the Boston Temple last year, a cell phone went off right there in the sealing room It belonged to the wife of the mission president. We all chuckled because despite the interruption, it is something we will all remember. And how many times can you say that about a wedding.
