Utah residents should flock to Pioneer Theater to see this production. This is Broadway quality fare and a must see. I am even traveling from Henderson, NV to take in this show. Better than Vegas.

My wife and I walked out after 20 minutes. Its contrived, frantic "entertainment" that falls flat.

This show is definitely not for the faint of heart (read: conservative mormons). Its raunchy and rude, like all Mel Brooks' shows are, but there is a reason it won the most EVER tony awards on Broadway.

It's a total riot and a ton of fun. I cannot wait!

PMT always does an amazing job with sets and costumes and such and I am sure this will be on par with other shows.

Thank you Erica for all these pictures! It's terrific for a theater buff to get to see this from the inside!

faint of heart = conservative mormons
could you be any more condiscending PRS?
I found the Broadway version to be great - but the f words detracted - not added - to the overall experience
I am not LDS or particularly conservative either - I just think potty jokes detract from true wit and the Producers would be better without them

Oh come on: Mormons don't like language or off color humor in their entertainment. That is hardly a secret.

If one is going to be offended by that, then don't go. A conservative viewer will be, so their choice should be clear. This is a community with a fair number of conservative theatergoers.

Where is the condescension here? Sounds like we are talking reality, and giving fair warning to those who will be offended. This is a Mormon run (and read, for the most part) newspaper, so these comments are totally appropriate.

(And in case it isn't clear: changing the script for more conservative audiences is not an option.)

Why does every comment stream on this site turn to mormon vs non mormon? Are there not other things going on in this state? If there is something to disagree about why is it always because someone is or isn't mormon? Seriously, can we not find anything else that differs between us all? The mormon thing is unbelievably boring--get over it.

don't waste 3 hours of it here
Great Show | 7:54 p.m. April 20, 2008
Mel Brooks is a comedic genius, and this is one of his very best works - almost as good as the original film. It is dirty, but it's also extraordinarily clever and funny (and, in my opinion, it's not R-rated dirty. More PG-13 dirty.) The raunchiness feels somehow far less dirty than that which appears in many teen comedies nowadays... And it doesn't in any way detract from the show's cleverness. In fact - and this isn't something I'd say very often - it somehow adds to the show.

It may not be a great work of art, but if you want to have a hugely entertaining three hours at the theater, go to this. It's a blast. With some great songs, to boot. (Though, once again, if you're offended by crude language and sexual content, this probably isn't for you.)

Roger Ebert tells of meeting Brooks in an elevator back around the time the original film of "The Producers" came out. A woman enters the elevator and confronts Brooks, telling him how offended she was by his film. His response? "Lady, [my film] rose below vulgarity."

At least they're not putting on "Blazing Saddles."

Erica, Great reporting! Reading your previews of shows really sells the show. I wasn't sure I was going to see this show but reading about all the backstage stuff makes me want to! Keep up the good work.

We saw the show tonight and it was awesome! Leo and Max were incredible, and the costumes were over the top.

It was hysterically funny and irreverent. This is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen - and even thought I saw the national tour in Las Vegas, I preferred PTCs production by far.
