Frankly, Cannon is more of an embarrassment to our state and a danger to our country than Matheson is. And I say that as a Republican-leaning conservative.

Jim Matheson has done a good job in Congress. It is amazing what people with common sense can do as opposed to those without any sense.

Much of the decisions in Washington occur not on the floor but in Committee meetings and caucuses. The fact that we have a Democrat representing us in Congress and adding strentgh to the Democratic leadership is an embarrassment worth any effort to remove - If Mr Matheson was interested in what is better for Utah, he would switch parties. He deserves to GO.

The biggest thing wrong with Matheson is that he's a Democrat.

Ahh... so you're one of those Republican Facists who insist on promoting a one party system and have no interest in a democratically-based plural system... the basion of freedom, liberty, economic well-being... oh that's right! Neo-CON Republican Facists aren't interested in any of this, least wise not as a principle and practice to be shared by all MiddleclassAmericans.

So, you are one who supports the War on MiddleClassAmerica. You are one who supports narrow-minded self-serving coo coo economic realities that you think is in your middle class interests but really only serves the overlords of big business and cold-hearted politicians. So, if this is all true, and it appears to be so, that would make you a traitor to MiddleClassAmerica.

Well get out of the way MiddleClassAmerica traitor, for I, a partisan of MiddleClassAmerica see your shenanigans for all it is... betraying our MiddleClassAmerican values, which includes avoiding a one party political system... AT ALL COSTS!

Utah needs at least one democrat in WashingtonDC. Matheson is that individual. And no, he doesn't strengthen the 'Liberal' agenda anymore than Harry Reed does. Both are centrists Democrats, something this country needs more of and no other Utah representative/senator comes close to.

jpc53: You do know the donkey is the mascot for the Demo's, right? Like the elephant is for the Republicans. That being said, Donkey Facts is correct. Matheson is a centrist Democrat - and he represents Utah's interests quite well in DC. Let's NOT elect some fool who thinks he can replace Matheson.
Great races | 2:24 p.m. April 16, 2008
There are a lot of great races going on right now. I'll be interested to see where Bill Dew ends up. But I don't think anyone is going to touch Matheson. As for the 3rd congressional race, what a line of candidates! The race is definitely between Chris Cannon and David Leavitt. Leavitt is showing some strength financially and by doing so much around the district. This is obviously a guy who wants to win. Cannon has events too, I've seen, but I don't know how much support he can garner at the convention. I think it's Leavitt's race to lose.

"Donkey Facts" :

I would love to see some proof that much of the decisions that Congress makes are done in caucuses- because its absolutely false. Committees are not partisan, they are made up of Members from both sides of the aisle. I would love to see some proof that Matheson has done anything to hurt the interests of Utah. The fact that he is a Democrat in a Republican-leaning district is proof enough that he must be doing something right to keep getting elected by such large margins. He works hard for the people of this state and is a brilliant mind on the hill. We are fortunate to have him in our delegation.
Matheson is Fluff | 3:52 p.m. April 16, 2008
I am excited to have someone run against Matheson. The only thing he has "done" is fluff press releases.

He voted for a fence along Mexico's boarder and then turned around and voted to let every county, environmental group and psycho have to sign off on it before it could be build.

He talks about being for Utah yet he votes with the Democrats in a percentage higher then any of our Republicans vote with the Republicans.

Enough of his two faces double talking votes. What have the Democrats done since in power? My gas is now over $3 buck as gallon and we are still in Iraq.

We need someone with substance.
