Please be sure not to overlook your first game of the year against Northern Iowa. Remember, you barely beat UCLA and you are not as good as you think you may be.

Will be interesting to see what the last two recruiting classes have to offer....this is the future of Bronco Football.....Show Time

I am so pumped to see the players play today that probably won't even get in a game next season...this should be awesome! Thanks Bronco!

I heard the top recruit from last fall (Jordan Pendleton) will be sitting out for this one due to an injury. No need to fear though cause I heard his mom is going to step in and play for him. Go cougars!

This is a new era for BYU. They are going to new heights and its funny to see Utah fans trying to knock BYU down, when they are soaring above all the other teams in the MWC (not too mention they can't beat us in basketball or football anymore). The cougars are going to get another MWC title and a possible BCS bowl!

DJ, you should apply for the job if you think you could do it better. Bronco knows his starters have nothing to prove, and everything to risk from injury. Bronco is the man!!!

Really that's amazing?!? That family must have some great athletes. I bet Ute fans wish she wouldn't have snubbed them just like Jordan did. She might have actually been within fifteen feet of Austin Collie last year.

Bronco is wise. No need to risk injury in a pointess spring scrimmage.

You have to be a Yewt fan! Just remember that BYU is good enough to have beaten Utah two years in a row and to go undefeated in the MWC, and to win two bowl games in a row!! I think it is Utah that should remember that they are not as good as they think they are

BYU will lose at least three games this year. Mark my words. However, I'd love to see them get to a BCS game so they can get beaten down. My delusional BYU roommates who genuinely believe the Cougars are in the upper tier of college football teams need to return to reality.
I like BYU, but I'm a long-time Buckeye fan with a different perspective. Sure, in the words of Superman (the latest Buckeye, Terrelle Pryor) Tress has a little National Championship "hump" to get over, but OSU is absurdly loaded and experienced in 2008. Scout.com predicts 3 of the top 4 picks in the 2009 NFL draft will be Buckeyes: J-Lo, MJ, and Beanie. I invite all my BYU brethren to cheer for BYU and OSU; one is the Lord's University, the other is the Lord's team.

Ignore the eweties.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, the first kick-off is months away and the Ute-Coug rivalry is alive and kicking with the usual back and forth moronic banter!! Give it a rest!! Just cheer for your own team and let the chips fall where they may. Go BYU!!
Re: Eugene | 1:50 p.m. April 12, 2008
Agreed. As a Ute fan I look for reasons to justify the stereotypes about cougar fans and I'm sure byu fans do just the same about UTAH fans. However, you have to be crazy to assume one team will be that dominant over the other this fall. There are too many variables involved. I see a great game and hopefully the Utes come out on top this year. :)
My prediction - Both teams finish with 9 to 11 win seasons (neither go undefeated, sorry people but it's tough to do) and finish in the top 20.

I was disappointed to learn that the starters weren't going to play today, but it makes sense. We've already lost Terrance Hooks. The coaches seem to already be aware of who their players will be next fall. I'd rather watch the Cougars 5th string players than any other university's players in the state.

RE; Dear BYU
I predict BYU will beat NIU by at least 28 points. It will prove nothing more than BYU won't start 0-3 as all its enemies are hoping.

There is some truth to it | 3:26 p.m. April 12, 2008
I am an avid BYU fan, but there is some truth to what the first guy said, in regards to the first game with Northern Iowa. They really are a good team and should not be overlooked. I've done some research on them. They went 12-1 last year and blew out almost every team they played in a similar fashion to what BYU did in 2006. They've got a lot of beef on defense and some decent speed on offense. If you look at BYU I think we have a little less size on defense, but a little more speed, so that should counter their offense well. Our offense is our stregnth, so even though the opposing side will have a tough defense size wise, we can counter that with our speed as well. Unlike the first guy, I'm fully confident in our ablity to win every game. (Don't forget the Utes are playing Weber St).
I just got back from the scrimmage. JJ, that new running back is good! He has got some speed, even with Harvey Unga he can compliment the back field nicely with his speed. It was looking like he was getting 10 yards a carry!

UNLV 28-0 over your team. Quit bringing up the UCLA games, BYU won. They will win again this year against UCLA and Utah.

The ewe plays Weber State this year. Next year they are trying to schedule Montpelier, Idaho. Don't dis a very good Northern Iowa team.
Mendenhall | 5:38 p.m. April 12, 2008
I think that this was a very good choice for Mendenhall letting the back up guys play. It lets them get a little taste of BYU football and what it is like, because some of them probably wont experience that this year. Good choice by Bronco letting get that chance early to get them excited about their future.
Get it on the table... | 2:26 p.m. April 13, 2008
It's all about the BYU coaching staff, conditioning, attitude and basic resources.
I do not remember when BYU has ever been ranked in the top 20 in the recruiting wars...ever.
However, cougar football hovers in and out of the Top Twenty Rankings most every year.
Yeah, there is something special about being a cougar
Whats the saying.."many are called, but few are chosen" or better yet..."a few good men"
