There are age limits in many professions. In Utah you cannot become a Police Officer until you are 21, just one example.

If a high school kid or college kid wants to go play pro basketball, let them. Just make them reimburse the school for any money that the school spent to support them while they were there. That means scholarship, housing, food, and anything else. It is unfair to the University to sign these players to play for them with the expectation that they will play for four years and then have them leave.
Also, Major League Baseball has the minor leagues. The NBA ought to do the same. Let these basketball players toil in obscurity for a few years, making lousy wages before they make the big show. That might make them think twice before trying to jump to the NBA.

Plaisted to the NBA? Wow Trent look at your showing in the big dance and compare it to those who move on. In fact check your showing at the MWC tourny. Spend some time developing your right hand and mental toughness then think about it.

CDR is most definitely a Junior. The big question here in Memphis is, will he come back next year, or go to the NBA this year.

Chris Douglas-Roberts is not a senior.
Trent needs to work on his game before he could be taken seriously as an NBA prospect or even in a good European league. If he goes BYU will be fine. Chris Miles proved he was the real deal as a freshman, and will be better in 08-09 with this year under his belt.
I felt all along free throws would be an issue for Memphis, are you listening BYU?

Forward thinking... | 12:10 p.m. April 8, 2008
The NBA is like any organization and most if not all high paying jobs outside of sports require advanced degrees. The NBA has gone to great lengths as of late to clean up it's image and this will only help by requiring more education and dedication to different aspects of life. It's a shame when someone like Hansborough gets punished for staying an extra year. It will also give them a drive and options for careers after pro-sports, this being my main point, how many of them blow their money on gold diamonds and cars, it gives them potential in the future. I think it's a great idea to raise it to twenty.

Hey "Do you research". You need to "do you research".
You're funny. Chris Miles was a sophmore last year.

This is Trent's best chance. He had a good enough year to be a 2nd round pick and to join Travis making bucks in Europe. He may not have that chance next year. Is he graduating early? What is keeping him in Provo?
Grow up gradually. | 2:07 p.m. April 8, 2008
There is something to be said for kids growing up gradually. History has shown that most kids who go into the NBA too young end up struggling off the court. Increasing the age limit is the responsible thing to do so the players have some additional maturity to handle the pressures of the NBA lifestyle.

CDR is a junior... i mean he's only played 3 years... last time i checked that was junior status...

CDR is not a senior, first of all. It's a hard decision for Rose and CDR. Do they stay and try to settle unfinished business or do they start what could be a very promising career in the NBA? Personally, I'd love to see them both back on the Tiger court next season, but it's their life, all I can do is support.
Get Real | 10:26 p.m. April 8, 2008
Let's be real here. Chris Miles is a good player but he is not a Trent Plaisted. With Trent's athletic ability and the things he brings to the table he is marketable. Why does everyone think he's not. BYU is not the same team without Trent. He is not yet polished but he has room for improvement and will. He's only 21 years old. Under the Rose run and gun 3 point live and die offesne Trent is not going to show case himself as if he were in another system with a ledgitimate guard play and penetration. Give Trent a break for once. If people will do that just maybe he would consider coming back to BYU. If Jason Smith can play in the NBA Trent can.
Enough said.
Enough said.

So, ESPN.com has Trent Plaisted as someone who is leaning towards declaring for the draft (they call it: 'having a foot in the door'). I always thought these guys are experts but I guess they got this one wrong because Plaisted is not ready, nor will he ever be ready to play on any NBA team. He is worse than Araujo and where is he now? Sorry, Trent, stay in school, get a regular job and hope that people will forget your woeful free throw shooting.
