Probably a good decision to release him but for the record Hunkie's jersey hangs from the rafters for the Arizona RATTLERS not the Wranglers as stated in your articly

I'm just glad I don't work for the Blaze. You make a mistake or two and you get the boot. Your storied kicker has one bad game and is immediately released. I can't help but wonder if moves like that are placinf undue pressure on the players and they are too worried about losing their job to play well.

Snap Decisions? The Blaze defense has ranked dead last in nearly every category since the beginning of the franchise 2+ years ago. I'm not sure how many defensive back combinations we saw last year but according to an article a few days ago they have already gone through 4 different combinations this year. Not sure what other teams are doing in the secondary but our DB's often look confused and our talent is a rotating door. Both of these are a direct reflection of coaching and bottom line is that the job was and has never been satisfactory. I actually wonder why White waited so long to pull the trigger on this one?????

Scape Goat | 12:53 p.m. April 2, 2008
"The move isn't necessarily a reflection on Cooper's coaching ability"... rather the head coach looking for a scape goat to avoid taking responsibility for the team's poor play himself.
Goodbye | 3:03 p.m. April 2, 2008
Goodbye, Blaze, your done, finished, over. What a mess. I can't believe this team draws any crowds. What a pathetic representation of sports and sportsmanship.
The next front office move will be to another state.

Revolving Door | 6:28 p.m. April 2, 2008
The blaze has been a revolving door since its inception. Front office staff, players, coaches, mascots, dancers not a lot of consistency. It seems like a bad way to build a foundation for a franchise.

Next to the Jazz the Blaze are the best attended professional sport in this state. I hope you naysayers aren't soccer fans as your situation is much worse

I agree with "Snap decisions" where the players are playing with unacceptable amounts of pressure. Players are waived for poor performance and not allowed to develop. But I don't agree with "revolving door" or anyone else here that Blaze bashes. We are all spoiled to witness a great franchise like the Jazz and the success they have. But we forget the growing pains they went through to be where they are. The Blaze are just in a start-up state. They are the most financially successful franchise in the AFL, and win the Commissioner's Award perenially. They are here to stay. So you might as well get on the train now, so you're not the ungrateful, dreaded bandwagon jumper a couple years from now.

Good point scared straight. This SLC market is way too small for any sports fan to be bashing the other. It's actually a real good thing for us sports junkies to be able to go to an NBA, AFL, MLS and Bees game all in the same week. If we ever hope to see an MLB team here we better hope that every one of these teams is financially stable. BTW "Revolving Door", you obviously have never run a start up business or been a true fan of a new franchise. Turnover on the team, coaches, etc. is very common as any new company tries to find chemistry. Look at RSL as well who has turned over a Coach and almost all of the players (a few times) and they still get good attendance and a new stadium to boot. Bottom line, the Blaze games are awesome entertainment.
financially successful | 1:05 a.m. April 10, 2008
Being financially successful in a league that routinely loses franchises who are bankrupt is like "being the world's tallest midget" I have been to the games, they are entertaining. But without wins, the economics will catch up to this team. I am not sure that firing your defensive backs coach is going to save you if your the blaze.
re: financially successful | 2:21 p.m. April 10, 2008
Keeping the defensive backs coach isn't going to save the Blaze either. You have to search and look for the right connection. Then you can win games. The Blaze are one-dimensional right now. We are all offense. Making a change at defensive coach isn't going to immediately improve wins, but in the long run, it's going to help.

In all my years around football this is a power move and Mr. White has all the power to hire and fire but lacks true grit and leadership. Cooper is just another casualty of poor management and professionalism.Mark my words he is not done with football.Mr. White it's time for you to move on. Great job coach Coop.
