What a nice fair article.

Many good points made in this article. I hope the presenter(s) have some good data to show - otherwise the meeting won't be very worthwhile...

Ms. Cortez misses the point of why communities seek to incorporate or annex. Self determination is the major reason why residents of the Millcreek area should investigate the annexation or incorporation issue. Case in point is the recent small school district issue. Whether or not you agreed on the need to break away from Granite School District and form a smaller district, the current 9 seat County Council (only 1 seat represents the Millcreek area) did not allow Millcreek residents to even vote on the issue. The vast majority of the County Council members do not even reside within the boundaries of Granite School District. The same is true for planning and zoning (monster house)issues. Does Ms. Cortez relish the thought of 9 County Council members, who are charged with balancing the needs of the entire county with 8 of them having no connection to the Millcreek area, making decisions which affect her neighborhood? Lets be honest any zoning recommendations which eminate from the township can be trumped by the County Council. Personally, I prefer 7 elected City Council members from my neighborhood making decisions which involve my schools, my neighborhoods, and the tax dollars I pay.
