Excellent review: well written, well informed and accurate. I haven't been a big fan of opera, but this production really was enchanting. I would only add to it that anyone who missed the last scene in Act I missed one of the most amazingly funny sequences I've ever seen on stage. Who would think to use "slo-mo" for comic effect in an opera? Evidently only Utah Opera! Bravo! (And all that traditional stuff you say about operas when they're been REALLY well done!)

Good and accurate review. The singing was quite adequate for a regional company. The real star was not seen - it was the stage director. This is the 7th time that I have seen it live, and the stage direction was terrific. It elevated what would otherwise have been merely "very good" to a memorable performance.
