Thank you for the wonderful lesson. So much truth to learn.

Hyper-sentimental rubbish. Write something of substance, please.

To Trent. Did you read the whole article. It had huge substance. The author has grasp of a profound truth that seems to evade so many parents today. I have long said that stubbornness is a dying trait in parents. It is essential to out-stubborn your children and failing to do so makes such a rod for your backs. Yes, it's hard. Yes, children are incredibly stubborn, but it is hugely important we are more so.
Of course, this goes along with choosing your battles. Oh the times I think, I wish I had just said yes, but the very fact that my child is pestering so much makes it imperative I stick to my word. There are, occassionally, the times where you have to backtrack humbly and admit you made a mistake - parents are fallible.
Goodness me, it's a fine line. Where's the handbook?

Reminds me of the time when a dear little girl whom I adored left sticky fingerprints on my full length mirror. I didn't see them as a mess, I saw them as a treasure, it was a couple years before I could wash them off. I washed all around them. My son had grown into a teenager at that time and she was about two and my "niece by heart". She to is now grown to a teenager. Oh how I miss those little handprints!
