Great little story about sharing recipes! When we lived in Iowa, I knew one woman who WOULD NOT share her chocolate chip cookie recipe at all. For young, not-quite-in-the-Mrs.-Mom-stage women like me, it's great to get recipes from more experienced bakers to start preparing for the future of having hungry kids under foot.

And to think Sherry had to move all the way to Utah and become a famous columnist before I could get this recipe for her cookies even after living near her in CT for many years! Will pass onto my son and his wife who live in Steve's California ward! One can NEVER have too many chocolate chip cookie recipes.

Although I've never tasted "Sherry's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies" I have savored Sherry's words and wisdom ever since she's been offering them first to her Greenwich, CT fridnds and neighbors in their town paper and now in the Deseret Morning News. I can only imagine the ouble treat it must be to be reading one of her thoughtful columns while devouring one of her tasty oatmeal cookies. Lucky indeed are those blesssed by such fortune.

I truly enjoy Sherry's articles! She shares stories from her life and family experiences. Nothing is better than enjoying her wisdom and humor. Now, I will be trying those famous cookies...and I will use butter!

We called these very wonderful cookies (my kids' favorites too) "Buckaroos" and sold them for $1 each at our Connecticut school fund-raisers. They are time and distance-tested! Grandkids in Utah and missionaries in Japan could all be bribed quite easily by these mouth-watering delights. But, alas, we find ourselves among those who now enjoy them in memory more than in person. . . the contraband list prevails. But, thanks, Sherry, for the memories!

Ditto to Claudia Rich's comment. Love Sherry's articles. I have always willingly shared my recipes but after moving to a small town I now frequently find my "special" recipes showing up all the time and someone claiming that it is their "special" recipe. Oh well I still share and smile when it shows up at a party.
