So, perhaps you might be the soul that don't care to the voice that God made, asking all of us as to who God really is, and whether He is omnipotent or not.

To me, to believe in the LDS church, and any church for that matter, is to believe that God is short sighted, omni-less-potent, and changes for His principles for the sake of man.

So, it's not the church that I chose to not believe their teachings, rather, I have to honor God and His truth, His teaching of His voice towards me, directly, in it's pure form, and untainted by man's hands, that He is the Lord and the God of this world and this universe, and that man's behavior and way of thinking has nothing to do with His ways, and that He can never be short sighted, He can never change for man, He can never give a commandment, then change that commandment, and He can never say to His "leaders" something contrary He says directly to you.

All of you Mormons know that there is something in your heart that feels wrong and contrary from what is taught to you by God.

the early Christian church had members give all their money to the church. In the Book of Acts we read of people being slain by God for conspiring to hold back some of their money from the church.
You can disagree with the historicity of Acts and hundreds of other things, but you can not say that the church being involved in money is a departure from the ways of Christianity.

I think there is something that the poster missed in Captain Mormoni's attack on Pahoran. Captain Mormoni was attacking Pahoran for a problem that was not his fault.
Maybe in the same way people on here are blaming the problems they have on others. People seem to assume that the church is full of unhappy and gloomy people, yet I have heard others insist the church is full of happy and cheerful people. Maybe the problems people speak of do not always have the source that people claim they do.

But we've all gone against that voice because we're afraid, due to it being contrary to what your leaders have said.

So, you listen to the wrong voice, and then you're taught that it won't be upon your head, that way you'll feel better when things go wrong.

We trust man's powers so much, thinking it's from God, only because you don't trust to listen to God's voice talking to you, thinking that you're a nobody, someone that's not important enough to have God to actually speak to you.

Listen to your heart, but listen carefully, so as not to taint that voice with your own desires and corruption, and when your heart is open to His voice, He will speak clearly to you. But be prepared, because His voice will often hugely surprise you.

I have a theory, and it's only a theory that can be called, guilty of association. That is, the reason this state of Utah is the #1 state in the entire country for anti-depressants, is because of internal dissonance between what you're taught to believe and what the God of heavens taught you to believe.

I joined the church 43 years ago and I still believe it is true. When my eternal companion passed away 18 years ago I no longer had his protection and I was hurt, betrayed and taken advantage of many times by those in authority but I kept going to church. It was when a Stake President wounded my only son who had served an honorable mission by refusing to let him be rebaptised that struck the mortal blow. It was a common mistake and my son had more then paid for it. He had gone to him with a broken heart and a contrite spirit begging for forgiveness and he was told that he would have to beat the door down in order to gain admittance and even then it would be years before he would be let back in and the Prophet himself would have to approve it. Those words will haunt me for the rest of my life. Our Father had forgiven him but the church would not. We have since moved and no longer attend church. We have learned by sad experience that if you do not want to be burned you stay away from the fire.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Unfortunately, this is not uncommon, as the church's leaders are way too hungry for power and abuse their authority way to easily, as stated in their scripture,as soon as they are given authority, they immediately abuse it.

That's why I left the church also, because there are so many power hungry people who like to use it for their own good, under the guise of leadership.

Each time a bishop is called, it's interesting how the ward's previous policy suddenly became not important, and things changes immediately.

Strange how God changes His policies and opinion whenever there is a new bishop or stake president or, whatever. God can't seem to make up His mind.

I've been told by more than 1 bishop when I was LDS, as long as I'm bishop, this is how it's going to be. Those words contradict other bishop's way of doing things for the same situation.

Then there was a stake president who won't allow my wife and I to have a ring exchange at the chapel, because chapels aren't supposed to be used for weddings.

It took a higher level of authority to complain before he changed his mind
