You know, with Romney out, Obama is lookin' pretty good to this Republican.
Especially if McMaverikMcain chooses Huckleberry as his running mate.

Can't be! Mitt quit? He's still in silver place and would make the bestest president ever. We're all gonna do our popcorn dances in the streets of Orem for Mitt. Maybe he'll come here and run for governor (get rid of the boob we've got), or Senator maybe. Mitt quit? Mitt quit? Mitt quit? Grrrrrrrrr.........
Jim D. Calif | 10:31 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
I will not vote for McCain. I am going to re-register Independent...

For all you Utah mormons, at this time as you consider what crow dish you will be enjoying this evening, may I recommend Crow Helper?
As I heard this news today, my first thought was "thank goodness - we're done with that".
Guess the constitution isn't quite to it's last thread.

This is great, he should have let the campaign earlier..he is not a favorite all for me.
Richard | 10:35 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Sorry to hear it, Mitt. I've supported you from day one. I only hope that if the Dems win in November, that you will run again in 4 more years.
philly | 10:35 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
while I have been undecided about Mitt, I am concerned because I feel as though we are left with nothing but dirty politicians. I hate to say it, but Obama just might be the best choice. I hope that Huckabee gets whatever Mccain promised him.
Blake | 10:36 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Adios Mitt! Looks like your position of purchasing the presidency was not embraced by the country! Leave it up to people that have worked their entire lives....Please don't move to Utah!
Allen | 10:37 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
I'm a Romney supporter, and I think that is a good decision.
Iraqi Soldier | 10:37 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
McCain will be exposed. Romney will be back....OR ELSE!
wrz | 10:38 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Romney should throw his support to Huckabee, the only other true Republican conservative.
Quitter | 10:38 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Yesterday he was talking about how he was giong to stay in the race until the end. Just another example that Mitt can't make up his mind.
Big Momma | 10:39 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
What a class act. I hate to see it happen, but am impressed once again with this man.
impressed | 10:40 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
What a class act. I've been skeptical of Romney and his integrity, but if he should go for 2012, he just secured my vote with this action.
The reason | 10:40 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Thank God, now maybe we can come together as a party and unite to win the white house - go GOP!
Anna | 10:40 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
What a sell out Romney is I can't believe after all we did for him in Utah. I won't vote for McCain he's a loser!!!!!
Brett | 10:40 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Mitt Romney will be back... as a newly converted Baptist Democrat!
After all, that is his waffling style!

So now the race is between three liberals. Great....
I think I will go with Hillary, as I think she can destroy this country faster than Obama or McCain can do it, and I am anxious to see it all come unraveled so people can learn their lesson that freedom is something you earn, not just wait around to be handed to you.
About all one could hope for is to create a super majority of republicans in Congress, and then watch Hillary be totally impotent as they overrun her vetos, and fail to move on any of her ideas. That might be something fun to watch.

Well, this sucks | 10:40 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
We'll look for you in '12 so you can unseat (ugh) Hillary.
MESA THUG | 10:41 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
WE LOVE YOU ANYWAY MITT!!
Frank | 10:41 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Move over Mitt, leave the race. This is great news for the Republican party.
good try | 10:42 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Good try Mitt, you were a class act all the way.
Sorry Mitt | 10:42 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
This is how it has to be, but I am sad to hear of it. Mitt will regroup and come on strong in 2012. By then the country will really need him. In the mean time we have a lot of work to do to assuage feelings of mistrust for Mormons. This is a responsibility we all share.
Disappointed | 10:43 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
What a sad day for our country. This is only an indication of where we're going if we don't pull together. And oh, as an aside, way to go Huckabee. You have lost and I don't think you realize the damage your arrogance has done to the party and the nation.
Dale Newton | 10:44 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
What a classy move! Congratulations to Mr. Romney for doing this at this time. He would have been a wonderful conservative President - maybe in the future.
Too Bad | 10:45 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
That is too bad. I thought Romney would have a chance in the general election against Hillary. I don't think that I can bring myself to vote for McCain. I don't trust the guy and he seems like a weasil. I may vote for Hillary but that is sickening in itself. Obama? Don't know where he stands on any issues.
RN | 10:45 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
I didn't donate to Mitt. I was turned off by his former stance on abortion, but the thought crossed my mind just now, what happens to the money all these other people donated. Anybody know what ex candidates do with their war chests?
Scot | 10:46 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Thank goodness, Mitt is out, my prayers have been answered!
Anonymous | 10:46 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
He equates a Democratic win with a victory for terror? This is crazy. Good riddance. How dare he represent my church in this way.
Archaea's Ghost | 10:46 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
This is a correct and classy move by Romney. He is taking the prudent course and by so doing puts himself in good position for 2012. In the interim, all reasonable Republicans need to join forces in support of Senator McCain. There are many important reasons - not the least of which are winning the war and the potential of three retiring Supreme Court justices in the next years.
MITT FOR PRESIDENT | 10:47 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
MITT FOR PRESIDENT IN 2013
Grumpolman | 10:48 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
It's a sad day that the only candidate with moral character and intelligent politics is leaving. Now who do we choose immoral character (McCain) or poor politics/moral character Obama or overall Mess) Ms. Clinton.
ZOOMER | 10:48 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
It will be interesting to see how quickly HUCKLEBEE drops out now that Mitt is gone. If he drops out quickly it will definitely imply some collusion between he and McCain, in that Huckebee was merely being used as a tool to weaken Romney's position among Republican conservatives to merely push McCain through as the Republican nominee.
I can now only hope that Obama can win the Democratic nomination, otherwise we can be assured of another Clinton in the White House!

jr | 10:50 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
how is it the the Democrats are terrorists, they are not wanting to continue the war, they don't want to see torture or the torture chambers continue. Willard Milton wanted to continue the war and believes in torture, mmm so much for believing in his GOD = who is the terrorists in wanting to keep Americans living in fear -- Go bury your head Willard Milton
Come to Utah | 10:51 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Well, Mitt, you know you could move to Utah and get elected to whatever state office you want -- governor, Senator, you name it you got it. You'll get at least 90% of the vote in Utah whatever you do. In Utah county you are assured at least 94% of the vote!
lol | 10:55 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
I am sick he is out of the race. He may not have the speaking abilities of an Obama, or the shallow promises of a Hillary, etc., but he is a class act and it will be our loss to not have him as a choice. Where do the conservatives turn at this point;
There is no one left in the race who represents the solid conservative base--on the economy, taxes, or high moral representation.

I wish some of you "haters" loved America as much as Mitt Romney. He wants to unite the party and knows he can't do that staying in the race. I think he is exercising great integrity. We need more people like him.
Josh | 10:57 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Definitely not an easy decision to make but if he had been a democrat, he would have had more chance at both the nomination and the presidency. I'm LDS and had looked forward to seeing a Mormon be the next U.S. presidents but in a country where much value is given to the words of a body builder, not much can be expected.
Seems like the fate of the white house has been sealed; America has another Clinton to clean after another Bush. Just what the world needs.

It is time to move on, and remember the past and look to the future. Don't wast your votes look into those that will be up in Nov. and vote smart. That is more important, then wishing we had Mitt.
Pennsylvanian for Romney | 11:00 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Well it is a disappointment to see Mitt Romney leave the Presidential race - but how does Vice President Romney sound? Sounds good to me...
Huckabee should have done the right thing - and HE should have left - but he has his own agenda to be sure - and guess he got what he wanted....

Huckabee should have bailed weeks ago.
mightyhunterhaha | 11:01 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
I cannot in good conscience vote for the liberal republican McCain. I would rather see the Democrats take office and ruin things than damage the Rebulican Party of future chances in the White House.
msmick | 11:01 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Though I'm disappointed, because I saw Mitt as the only candidate I would support, I respect his views and his decision. In my eyes, he was the only candidate to beat either Obama or Clinton and now I don't even want to vote! Our Country is going down the tubes! Yeah! I'll write him in and vote for him anyway.
Anonymous | 11:02 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
Can you really see McCain or Huckabee running Washington??? I mean really??? Just hope the next four years goes by pretty fast leaving this country as unscathed as possible. Yeah right...
Mark | 11:03 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
I agree with John. (Elect a Republican majority to Congress) Republicans in the 2nd District who keep voting for Matheson need to vote for the Republican who runs against him. The only way to avoid Hillary care and tax increases is to block them in Congress. Mitt's ideal can live on by electing someone who can unite fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, and national security conservatives to Congress. Now if someone who fits that mold would just step up and speak to those groups . . .
