Well, if you don't vote for Mitt, you will deserve what you get. He's the only one who could preserve our republic--as it was intended. Period!
Yes, we've all "flip flopped" | 6:17 p.m. Dec. 27, 2007
At one time or another...some of more than others. But politically, I feel that the candidates shouldn't change on key issues because that makes people loose faith in their ability to make important decisions. On both the gay and the abortion issue (I'm sure I haven't mentioned others) Mitt has done a 180 and it makes me nervous.

Mitt speaks loudly to Americans about Mormonism. Mitt is the best of Mormonism. We are witnessing this. It's a shame many are missing the message Mitt is really sending.

Apparently many of you would rather have a person stick stubbornly to a point of view instead of after careful examination realize they were wrong and take a new stance."

Isn't this what Bush has done?

Carefully examined the issues and come to a realization! Most of us supported the war and other issues. After seeing the results of years of doing some of the wrong things people do not want another "Bush" in office! This is what I've heard some people express (that Mitt is kind've like Bush). If so, no thank you! I don't deny that I sometimes find "hate mongers" on these websites. But I also find people who are willing to speak up and afterall, that's what websites like this are supposed to be about.

What is wrong with "Me"? Kopy Kat !!! If you are going to use my name, for Heaven's Sake, please us the correct political persuassion!!! Mitt is the very best candidate, and no other alternative, not even by some snit using my name. Mitt is the most honest, straight and honorable one in the race, and I do not like my name messed up with one who thinks he or she is "Me" #!. #1 is for Mitt, and #1 has nothing but the best to say about one who marries only once and a good family man; is a real good business person, who has integrity. Mitt is a winner all the way around. They do not come any better. Sincerely, Me, #1

There is so much hate being spewed on this blog tonight that I have just one thing to say and then I'am outta here. many times I have been told that liberalism is nothing more than mental sickness and after tonight I have a stronger testimony that it is true. it's a sad thing when these kind of people have nothing constructive to bring to the arena of
ideas other than hate. every thing that is wrong with this country is rooted in liberalism ...and as forrest gumpp would say,"and thats all I got to say about that!"
re: ore.man | 11:53 p.m. Dec. 27, 2007
How true when it comes liberalism being a mental disorder.

What gets me about when Romney was being sustained as either a bishop or a stake president and when he was supporting the murder of innocent life or the gay life style; why wasn't his congregation voting NO to sustain him.

As members of the church we have this obligation to vote no. Keep in mind, that for every calling in the church, it requires a 100 percent yes vote. If there is a no vote, than more than likely, that person would not hold a calling.
Bill | 11:58 p.m. Dec. 27, 2007
Mitt Romney was key in the positive outcome of the Salt Lake Olympics, that should be obvious to even the casual observer. He is not only a rock solid family man, I liked what I heard in his speech on faith in America, and he is has a great record in business and politics. Much of the problem with America today it the willingness of so many people of whatever persuasion to vilify someone like Romney because of some prejudicial disagreement with them. Everything I have seen of Romney shows him to be a scholar, a gentleman, and a statesman and his support of President Bush doesnt diminish him in my opinion.

Go Mitt!!!

I want a Real Change in Government with Honesty, Values, Intergrity, Morals, Responsibility, and Religious Liberty.
Paperboy | 1:11 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Today the LA Times ran an article that described the pickle Mitt finds himself in: authenticity.
[quote]

"For Romney, the issue is particularly troublesome. He has spent millions of dollars over the last year courting key Republican constituencies in Iowa and New Hampshire, hoping wins in those early states will propel him to the nomination. But in recent weeks he has been forced to defend his claim that his father marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and to explain why he hired a landscaping company that employed undocumented workers despite his tough stance against illegal immigration.

A Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg Poll earlier this month underscored Romney's challenge: He ranked last when voters were asked which GOP candidates were "best at saying what they believe, rather than saying what they think the voters want to hear."

It isn't poor Mitt's devotion to a poorly understood and arguable less popular religion that is threatening to undermine his campaign; it is the perception that Mitt's frequently changing stripes is giving the voting public a reason to doubt Mitt's authenticity.
RE: anoymuch or anonymous | 1:45 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Yes Romney doesn't have a chance you say....hes lining himself with President Bush, I have a question for you "What have Ron Paul done in congress or anywhere for that matter that would compare to Mitt Romneys experience and record?"

Oh right he wants to bring the troops home immediately and we should not go to war, and by the way he also comdemn Abraham Lincoln for the civil war.

Have you noticed at all that while terrorist are TERRORIZING everywhere in the world there has nothing happen in the US since 911 six years later? As you're busy speweing ignorant hate perhaps you should give credit where credit is due...Yes President Bush have been fighting the negative and devisive driven democrats but have help keep the people of the US safe.....

How do you account for countless individuals that have been arrested and put in jail for plotting to kill US citizens; by the way due in part to the patriot act effectiveness. You need to open your eyes.
Rich | 1:47 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Like Mitt, I underwent some philosophical and political changes. At one time I would have been considered a liberal environmentalist. Now I realize it is wise to plan growth and stupidly naive to oppose wise planning while stubbornly fighting growth and population increases. I also realize that the environmentalists who attended college at the same time I did accepted the drivel they were taught and failed to realize that the scaremongering "scientists" of the day were driven more by ideology than fact (and were wrong about most of their predictions, too). I also have come to believe it is society's right to restrict abortion because the fetus at some point has rights, and the mother's rights should end where and when they infringe upon another soul's rights. If Romney had switched from anti-abortion to pro-abortion, I would be opposing him. But I think he's currently the best candidate the Republicans have to offer -- not perfect -- but at least he has a chance to win, something Ron Paul does not. Paul is simplistic, unrealistic and idealistic and could accomplish next to nothing in the real world of national politics.
Haters can vote for Romney. | 2:16 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007

Weather you are Pro-Romney or Anti-Romney (or anyone else) it should not matter.

What should matter is the fact that you should NOT judge a man / or / a woman by what you hear... my question is Do you really know the man (Mitt) have you met him in person and do you know his true personality?

Do not just go off of roomers and here-say!

there is allot of goo in people and people make allot of choices - some good and some bad

so what if Romney "flip-flops" i will tell you that i do this on a daily basis or even hourly for that note

NO ONE ON EARTH IS PERFECT!!!!

Romney is the type of sleazy politician that will obviously say anything to get himself elected.
He also wants total power (even more than Bush) once he's in office.Bye-bye Constitution.
This tyrant doesn't want to be president - he wants to be King.
Limitless Power | 7:23 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Its as though Cheney, Bush, Yoo, Addington, Gonzales and associated miscreants have acted as Pandora: opening the lid forever on torture, preemptive & permanent war, executive tyranny, warrantless spying, American gulags, state lawlessness, etc. Despite the disastrous effects of these ills no one in the political elitescertainly none of the Republican candidates (with the exception of Ron Paul) or the Democratic front runners has any intention of returning them to the box.

Apparently, Romney would like to blow the box to smithereens to make certain the horrors of executive tyranny can never be contained again.
Hanson | 8:41 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
I can't believe the left wing lies that are being said about a truely honest and good man. It is true that he appears to be egotistical(self confident) but you show me any man or woman who is bright and successful who isn't self confident and I'll be surprized. Mitt knows how to bring people together to work on difficult issues and he did a better job of doing that in Mass. than others probably would have done. His record on both abortion and gay issues tell you exactly where he stands regardless of what he may have said 10 years earlier. It is probably 'Move On.com" and Gearge Sorrows who is behind all the negative and slanderous info against Mitt.

I realize that there are some people out there that are worried about the politics of Mitt. I have found him to be the best choice because he is the best example out there of what a President should be. First of all, I do not like politicians who have little to no real world experience. Mitt was a success in the business world and that speaks volumes to me. I think he would be the best of the candidates to handle the economy.
As I look to the other candidates I can't understand how somebody can consider them. The Democrats are jokes (Ice Queen, and no experience). As for the Republicans I would like to take a piece of each of them. Take Giuliani's stance on the war on terror, Huckabee's communication skills and faith, McCain's conviction, Tancredo's stance on immigration, and Thompson's stance on Iraq. Romney best exemplifies this ideal.
Keriama | 9:46 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Mitt Romney is going to make a brilliant president when he wins in '08! No other candidate has the experience, integrity, work ethic, determination and intelligence, etc, that Romney exhibits.

I get weary of ignoramuses who are too lazy to do their own unbiased research on negative press about Romney but instead, prefer to believe the worst. CNN always suppresses positive news about Mitt. They tend to magnify or twist more trivial reports. (His background is boring...too spotless and without scandals. They never comment on positive news...like when Justice Robert Bork endorsed Romney last week, the National Review backed him recently.

They also never mentioned the IOWA newspaper (don't recall the name)endorsing Mitt, the same day The Concord Monitor anti-endorsed him. Romney is the candidate that the left fears the mostand they want him to go away. Little hope of that tho!

MITT 2008!!!

Mitt Romney is the best! He's the most intelligent, experienced, hard working, organized, ethical, moral, man of integrity there is.

I've followed his career since he miraculously saved the 2002 Winter Olympics, when there were still fears of terrorism disrupting the games. He then brilliantly governed MA. I've left no stone unturned during my research. He has only 'flipped' or changed his mind (not flip flopped) once, on abortion but then, he was "pro-choice" pro-abortion, and to uphold the laws or constitution of MA. Don't we all change our minds about different things?...every day, some of us.

He will make a fabulous president!!!

GO MITT GO!!!

I saw Mitt on TV this morning, he's still dancing around the questions put forth to him. He should be next years contestant on Dancing With the Stars.
Do yourself, the USA, and the world, a favor and do not vote to put this Weird Man and the LDS into the WhiteHouse.

For the Mormons out there please remember how the church TOLD you how to vote on important issues such as the ERA amendment, Lottery, Blue Laws, etc. I hope you get the Message .

May God save this country.

Have a Happy New Year, and please vote,

please don't resort to name calling ... it is too easy to call people you don't agree with "ignorant" ... and it doesn't make you or your stand look any better ... in fact, it's obvious that you have a certain bias, so your own research is not unbiased ... the qualities you listed for romney (experience, integrity, work ethic, etc.) could be attributed to any person trying to be elected president ... no one in recent times has been elected without them ... some of us have arrived at different opinions of romney than you have and that is our right ... he has done nothing to make himself the automatic choice for america ... i have met him, i have shook his hand and have looked into his eyes ... i have followed his career and i know what i think about him ... disagree with me if you want, but don't call me lazy..

To all of you hate-filled antis out there who believe that Mormons are voting for Mitt Romney just because he is Mormon, may I remind you that Harry Reid, the powerful Majority Leader in the Senate, is Mormon. Most Mormons who are voting for Mitt wouldn't vote for Harry for dogcatcher. Harry is such a dullard with no real qualifications to be anything except an apologist for Nancy Polosi/Harry Reid/Democrat failures. Go Mitt!! A wise man changes his mind, a fool never does. He who does nothing makes no mistakes. Keep on courageously acting instead of reacting and you will go down in history as one of our greatest presidents.
Thanks Christian bigots! | 11:30 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Romney might very well become the Republican nominee if it werent for the fact that hes a Mormon. In other words, what will defeat him is NOT his horrible authoritarian pro-tyranny pro-torture pro-fascist positions. What will defeat him is simply the bigotry of the Christian Right, who wont tolerate a Mormon president. Aside from that one little detail, Romneys positions would certainly appeal to all the lunatics who liked Bush (or who think Bush didnt go far enough).

Thank God for our Christian bigots!

LDS chuch has no control of anybody that's not what God wants. GOD doesn't show up to turn off the pornographic movie if the person CHOSE to watch it. God will not interfere if a person doesn't want to go to church or want to disobey the laws. There will just be consequences and will not be FREE to choose as much as before. So Mr. Romney is right, FREEDOM REQUIRES RELIGION, I would not even know the right from wrong if not because of religion and therefore will foolishly choose the wrong and thereby might land up in jail or be dead. Premarital sex is the same as far as freedom, being forbidden by LDS church and GOD. If we disobey there will be a lot of persnal freedom being curtailed - having a baby to take care of, need to work, to make more money, might get STD, get more responsibilities than one is ready for, more heartache if the dad or mom is the wrong person, body is being filthy & use as an object. But if one chooses the right then we have more rewards & freedom.

The Conspiracy theory about Mormons voting for Mitt because he is Mormon is ridiculous. Its just another twisted argument to smear Mormonism and discredit Romney. I am Mormon and I would NOT vote for Harry Reid if he was a presidential candidate, and Harry Reid is also Mormon. The fact is that Mitt Romney is Right and Correct on more issues than any other candidate and has the record to prove it. Mitt Romney will lead this country in the right direction.

Mitt lover | 1:42 p.m. Dec. 28, 2007
If you look at the choices available in the GOP party, Mitt is the most qualified of them all. I think it's important to judge him based on his record as a governor. He fulfilled his promises when he was a candidate for that office. He is smart (I should say, very smart). He is very amiable. I admit he may have gotten in trouble with the issue on abortion but why is that so important? Can't people change their opinion on something based on new findings and knowledge without being judged cruelly for it? He really is a born leader and I like his style. I think before people start to tear him down because of what they read from the papers that are negative, they should learn about the man. Rational people don't just parrot what hateful people say but they think for themselves. They ask questions and look for answers. Is the man really what he says he is? There's a saying in the good book that says: "By their fruits ye shall know them." I think Mitt is an excellent tree that produces good fruit after I have done my research on him.
lvman | 1:51 p.m. Dec. 28, 2007
Mitt Romney has been a total disappointment to me. It is unbelievable that a life-long LDS member can excuse his past position on abortion by saying I was wrong. When did he figure that out? While LDS doctrine is not a strict "abortion is always wrong no matter what" that is common among certain other Christians denominations, we LDS understand that abortion as a birth control option has been and always will be wrong and should never be a legal option. We are pro choice. When a person engages in a behavior that has a medically known consequence, the person has made their choice. It is clear that he said what ever he needed to say to get elected in Massachusetts and is saying whatever he thinks he needs to say now. He has demonstrated that he is clearly willing to sell his soul to gain the world despite his assertions otherwise.
