Children and adults should read for fun

Well, I love to read, it is one of my passions, so when I hear others who regard
reading with disdain I am dismayed. So when our professor assigned us a
persuasive speech I decided to do it on why people should read. But as I've
done some research on the benefits of reading I haven't found much. Do you
know of any research out there pertaining to the benefits of reading for adults?
