The author omitted several other important changes to the temple made by President Hinckley. During his tenure, several features of the endowment were removed in 1990, including the three penalties, the depiction of the Protestant minister as a hireling of Satan, the Five Points Of Fellowship at the veil, the Lecture at the Veil, and the use of ancient Adamic language ("Pay Lay Ale" became "O God Hear the words of my mouth").

In 2005, President Hinckley oversaw the changes in the initiatory ordinances. Members receiving their own (live) initiatory ordinances are now annointed with water and oil on the forehead only, rather than on various parts of the body, and participants arrive already clothed in their temple garments.
